You're not making it difficult, let's be honest.

If you want to find the little gaps that tank MG hull gunners can see you through find any gap between objects / window gaps / barn wall slats, etc. All of which are small enough to shoot through but not large enough to move through, aka. fireholes.

SL's carry smoke. What you do is select Smoke grenade, throw it, and voila - smoke.

This really isn't rocket surgery but I'm happy to have explained it to you in simple terms.
