[Game] Mortal Kombat

Favorite character: Mileena, for obvious reasons.

It's cos she's rocking the Sai like Raphael from TMNT right...?

No offense, but how can a sophisticated, developed country have such high level of censorship? Just doesn't match to the criteria, really.

It is not like Mortal Kombat is a sophisticated, developed game. You are free to import it or buy it on demand, you ask for it and the shop orders it for you (if you are over 18).

Also since when are there PS3 emulators?

Did anyone say boobs?

Ah, anyone remember Giants: Citizen Kabuto?

German Version: no gore
US Version: no nipples
UK Version: Win-Win!

Not releasing the game actually circumvents the censorship. Like the fellow said, you can still import all games from the UK (cheap) or Austria (expensive). If publishers started sending briefcases full of cash to the German government every year we would see the end of censorship but right now gamers got no pressure group here.

Must be one bad Emu, since PS3's aren't that strong spec wise themselves.
I'd imagine the major hurdle would be emulating the cell processor architecture from the PS3 on the x86 architecture of the PC.

Also emulation always costs performance, which is why you need a PC multitudes more powerful than a PS2 to properly emulate PS2 games on it, and even then there are still issues.

Gameplay was never one of MKs strengths. I hear they have improved things though with the newest part.
The gameplay has vastly improved since the last installment. They streamlined combat by bringing the game back to its 2-d roots and made the controls easier to pick up and play. Granted, it's not the most intuitive, in-depth fighting game. But I think that the golden rule of all fighting games should be "easy to learn, difficult to master" and that's exactly what the new MK did.

My only gripe with the game is how boss battles are handled. This is mainly an issue when fighting Shao Khan. You play through the entire game learning how to fight enemies who have the same capabilities as you, and the same basic rules apply to both fighters, but then you get to Shao Khan. Not only does he soak up damage like a pain-sponge, but his close-range moves are instantaneous and have virtually no recovery time, making him impossible to beat in a staight up fight, not to mention that most of his moves aren't interruptable, meaning you can't stop his onslaught by hitting him mid-attack like you do with other characters. The only way to beat him is by projectile spam, which is never fun, or teleport-attacks, if your character even has any.

It's been a problem with most MK games: bosses that aren't restricted by the same rules as you, and the only way to beat them is to grind them down one hit at a time
