well i've shoot in real life with M1 garand and the iron sight was different and at other games was more comfortable than RS's at M14 rifle too , for example

Rising Storm:

OTHER GAME:

big difference RS's iron sight blocks little big the vision and you cant see (my opinion)

and seriously now at M14 you cant see a sh*t....

asdas.jpg .

and you can make the weapons being scratched after some levels like they are used for long time because i have lvl 50 rifle and looks like new brand :pi think that should make the game more realistic or something like this

I've spent plenty of time at the rifle range with the Springfield M1A, and I've seen and held plenty of Garands--the rear sight looks absolutely nothing like it does in that screenshot from Call of Duty 3.

Also, a pro tip from one informed gun enthusiast to another : that's an M1 Carbine, not an M14 rifle.

that sight in the second pic is hilarious! it's so far from real life, i'm wondering why they didn't just abandon it altogether! I have no problem with the sights in the game. it would be better if your eye was a little closer to it, making the hole seem bigger, but then we'd be complaining about how much peripheral vision we lose. it's a game. there has to be trade-offs.

For your consideration-

The thing is, peep sights are actually fantastic and they suck in video games compared to open sights because of the extra screen space they take up.

I recommend that the rear ring be made 25% transparent. And the Garand should have recoil that doesn't magically fix itself. That would keep things balanced and less spray-and-pray for the American team.

I think that would work.

Someone suggested before that what the game needs is to dither the gun when in ADS, at least the sights, so it kind of feels like you have both eyes open.

Yes. it was me. Current iron sight is brilliant example how realism can kill gameplay.

But wait, you have 2 eyes in rl and you can shot with both eyes open.
So its realistic in cheap way.

I believe iron sight should look something like this:

The difficulties with realistic models in a game come from in reality your eyes perception is totaly different than the physic form of an object.

So indeed in reality the garand sight is realy small but when you look through it in reality, in fact it more looks like a little scope.

It's so much different than even with a camera you cannot take exactly what your eye see unless you have a specific camera but probably also very expensive.
So here a simulation of what your eyes should see :

The big circle is out of focus so for your eyes it is nearly transparent.
