Invasion of Holland modification

As the title says, the plan is to bring the invasion of the Netherlands by National-Socialistic Germany to Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45.

This plan has been on my mind for 2 years now, and I thought of various modding platform like Half-Life 2, Brothers in Arms...
But since Red Orchestra is my favorite game, why not Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45?

The problem is that even though I might "want" this, I have no modding skills myself.
You might think, what the hell are you trying SgtH3nry3, you bloody fool??

Well, to be honest, I want to learn how to map. I know some stuff yes, but I'm a down-to-right amateur with no control. :D

Well, back to topic.

Just like any other game where sides randomly win this is a what-if game...

This post is just to try to gather some of your opinions.
Feel free to reply, no matter if you might think it will suck or it will pwn...

lol, you have something to do with every single mod I've seen around here SgtH3nry3. Why not try and just make maps for now? I mean starting a mod is alot of work, and it's going to be hard if you don't have any experience at all.

Well anyway, good luck =)

Edit: maybe learn mapping and check out this instead... http://www.redorchestragame.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6796

The dutch gaming community is pretty damn big you know...and why would people not be interested? That's like saying the war between the germans and the russians would be boring because the americans weren't there..
No, but because it was rather unimportant. Also, what do you want to fight with as a dutch soldier? With horses?

I could try to map but im also teh nub.
Who cares, the mod is actually a learning process, every learning modder, whether skinner, modeller or mapper can join us.

Of course you'll be critisized to hell, but that'll make you learn better! :D
It might also give you a start in the modding business, at least you have something to add to your portfolio... :D

I'll join your mod team :D

(Don't let my post count fool you <_<)

I've had previous experience with UT2004 modding and such.
Hmmm, can you speak Dutch? (Not that it matters but atm. the small team is entirely Dutch somehow... :D)
And btw, you could also register at www.redorchestra.nl that way. :D

If you are truly new to modding then you have to realize that unless you get some quality help you have next to no chance of producing anything worth a public download while the game engine is still relevant.

What comes to mind is a mod I just saw posted for Oblivion. It was concieved and started on Morrowwind years ago (4 -5) and was not finished. Now that a new engine is out they can take some of it and start from scratch.. another year or 2 they may have something.. hopefully another sequel does not beat them.

I don't mean to squash enthusiasm, just temper it. A mod is a huge undertaking for those with experience. Believe me, even with a talented crew it can be headaches.

You are best to take the advice given earlier and work on mapping, or maybe modelling. Just one portion of a mod. Then when you become proficient at it you will be able to contribute to a mod team with more then just an idea.
