Im really confused about how to use this:
http://www.lilchips.com/dgunreal/tools-hmcs.asp

Im not sure how to export the heightmap and then flip it, then bring it back into the map.

Basically I want to create some diagonal trenches but the terrain in unrealed can only have smooth diagonal lines in one direction, the other direction it comes out all staggard (maybe because it uses triangles). So i want to create two terrains facing different ways so i can have diagonal trenches in all directions, using one terrain for the main layer and the other just for the trenches going the opposite diagonal way and then use the visibility tool to get rid of the excess.

Cheers n' Beers.:)

i guess so, but these have to be made in seperate 3d programs.

Trust me.. learning a 3d app well enough to do basic meshes is worth it's weight in gold for Unreal..

(this coming from very mediocre 3d guy, but still some of the mesh's i've cooked up are used in a surprising number of RO maps.. :)

Some other things that might help you with your terrain issue, assuming you don't want to bite the bullet and learn a 3d app:
- remember you can flip the triangles of the terrain quads.. doing that might help you create a better terrain how you want it.

thanks for the advice UncleDrax. I've had a quick look at Maya before (i think i still have the learning edition on me computer!) so maybe one day, i'd rather master unrealed first though.

How can I go about flipping the Terrain triangles?? I think thats pretty much what i need to do.

Cheers.

You can use the "edge turn" option on the terrain paint brush.
