Hero system question

Who or what is a Hero? Ive never heard anyone in a war-orientated film shout - "Where pinned down here, call in THHHHEEEE H.E.R.O!"

Personally if you "rank up" / level up and attain Hero status  You should keep that level until you do something bad enough for you to be 'demoted' as in real life. Possibly Teamkills and such could deduct from your hero status.

In addition -
I love how people discuss realism, then suddenly throw in "being a hero gives you access to the hero weapons", as good intentioned as people are, to describe a realism based war-game with the terms Hero and Hero weapons just sounds so degrading - cant they call Hero's Veterans? And possibly Hero/Rare weapons as Specialist weapons?

Do you base your concept of realism from movies? :troll:

;) No because ive never been in frontline combat, the likes of Band of Brothers, Stalingrad & Saving Private Ryan, as dubious as some of the films may be in terms of realism & accuracy, serve as the source of my argument. I trust them that they at least took some advice from military adisors / historians of the era. I mean I dont see Abrams tanks rolling through 'Ramelle' - ficticious I know, but still, or Buck Compton carrying a British SLR in Band of Brothers.

I can imagine soldiers shouting: "Man that gun" or "Take cover", not, "Quick call in the level 64 Hero with Ultra rare MKB42 to deal with zee Panzerrrss":?

Well the Soviet Union did have an award called the Hero of the Soviet Union...So if Yer on the Russian side, and pinned down, You could shout "call in the level 64 Hero of the Soviet Union Award" and still be Historically correct;):D

My question is when will it be removed?... :troll: J/K. I am a bit skeptical of this Hero system, but it doesn't sound terrible or anything.

If everyone can attain it, as it sounds from the footage I've watched, perhaps they should remove some of the buffs to cap rate, morale, etc. Being a hero would just mean that you've proven yourself in battle, and have achieved the max rank, and you arent a TK'ing monkey.

^Welshie, I'm addicting to ETW(realism mods), nice sig

Well, you take your assumptions from movies. While their idea of the heroes came from a real source (their trip to Volgograd). They heard so many local stories about heroes there, that they realized how important was for the morale of the soviets, and thats how they get the idea (at least how I remember Ramm said it).

Heroes are not gonna be super men, they are just gonna be people that inspires confidence in everyone around them, and that IMO, is realistic, and never been simulated in a game before.
