FT255... eh?

I've noticed that I'll occasionally have (FT255) tagged after my name in some MP games, so I was just wondering if anybody could tell me what that means please?

e.g. press tab during game and scoreboard has... IncubusDragon(FT255)
but none of the other players seem to have it next to them.

I rarely go as sniper but I never actually join a squad either - I'll usually just select my class, weapon and go ready - so maybe it just means I didn't join a squad.

Nah, snipers aren't in squads, but I've never seen this FT255 thing. You are automatically put into a squad when you join any other role.

If you just select a rifleman or elite assault for example, you automatically join a squad.

I'm think its Fireteam 255, assigned to sniper probably because they are technically in a fireteam by themselves, but 255 is far enough away from any other number so they don't get accidentally added to other squads somehow

Ah yeah this is probably it. 255 is probably the default assignment when nothing is specified in the code. It's the max value of an 8-bit registry iirc.

Sounds like a benign bug though.

Stalingradkessel has the Sniper squad (255) with two players in it, both are Snipers and they can talk using squad chat.
