I just find mechs terribly inefficient. Main battle vehicles shouldn't be able to trip, and they definitely shouldn't be topheavy and on stilts.

It also ensures a sub-par physics engine. Can't have our vehicles tipping over at the first sign of a downward slope, can we?

Yeah I was just joking. There really is no realism at all when designing a traditional mech. However, that Metal Gear is a beast.

"Silly" and "realistic" aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. I'd love to have a game which had realistic treatments of futuristic technology. Mechwarrior 3 was a good start...but then they made Mech4 all arcadey again. >_<
