Go to Nvidia website and download latest driver, put the installer for later use on the desktop.
Now download
DDU on Guru3d website
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html download links are on bottom of page, chose most recent version (as disclaimer says, use at your own risk, but I don't know anyone who had problem using it).
DDU is useful to completely and properly remove any old video drivers files. Use it in
safe mode as suggested, follow instructions, and choose to remove all nvidia video drivers.
Now you used DDU, and rebooted your computer without any video driver, install the latest Nvidia video driver you should have it on your desktop as I told you to download and keep it for later use, I recommend to make a custom installation and not install Nvidia Experience, and not install 3dvision features if you don't use a 3D screen. Install only what you will need.
After driver installation, reboot.
