Tactics Busting Banzai Charges for Fun and Profit.

Well, maybe not for profit. But on Hanto and Guadalcanal, I have found through experience that the best way to defend against banzai charges, is to have multiple lines of defence.

1st Line: Riflemen are up front, looking for targets of opportunity moving across open ground. On Guadalcanal where the yanks only have Springfields, you can put your Automatic Riflemen up here too, but on Hanto, just the Garands should suffice. Sorry 1st line, but when a banzai happens, you're essentially a meat shield.

2nd Line: Automatic Riflemen & Machine gunners. Roughly in the centre of the cap zone, further back from the 1st line, you should be in ambush positions, hidden from view from enemy sniping positions, and covering cap entrances (doors, windows, gaps in fences, etc). Any Japs that get past the first line are going to run straight into your ambush, so don't give in to the temptation to stick your heads up and try to get some kills too early, or a Jap rifleman or sniper will take you out.

3rd Line: Flamers & Submachine Gunners. Lastly, you guys will be staying well in the rear in protected positions for the most part, especially the Squad Leaders so your team can spawn much closer to the objective. Commander should be using recon whenever available. Any banzai charge that gets past the first two lines can then be mopped up by your flamerthrowers and Tommy guns, meanwhile the team is respawning on their SL's, at the objective instead of far behind, and ready to retake their positions.

That's pretty much. Essentially the theory is that a banzai charge is going to have to break through multiple lines of defence, and in theory should lose all momentum by the time it gets through the first two lines, and be sitting ducks for the flamers and submachine gunners.
