Just heard about this rather interesting action RTS game that is being developed and published by Eidos, apparently to be released soon on May 12th in North America and on May 15th in Europe and Australia. Demo version should be released this week on Thursday the 30th April for PC and Xbox360.

The game is set between the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbour in 1941 and the Battle of Okinawa in 1945. Both sides have their own historically accurate storyline; for the Japanese campaign it's possible to play through 28 single player missions featuring the attacks on Pearl Harbour to Midway and an invasion of America. The American campaign is set from the end of Midway to Okinawa.

The demo version includes one mission from the American campaign and two multiplayer modes, but multiplayer can only be played offline against bots.

Some info about the game engine:

The Islands are filled with foliage, the water becomes transparent at shallow depths and a new cockpit view mode is included. The damage model and physics engine have been overhauled aswell; ships split in two, the planes parts can be shot off and smokestacks and crewmen could be blasted overboard.

The engine also allows different types of environment effects, such as day and night cycles with other weather effects.

Over 100 playable units can be controlled.
