I had noticed that AA enabled (even on ultra) seemed to do nothing to objects in the distance while still killing my fps, so today I tickied the morphological filter in the CCC panel and suddenly it seemed that AA was working properly, then I set ingame AA to mid, and suddenly got a 10 fps boost with no loss in quality, now it looks like a 4xAA as in every other game. You have to leave the "use application settings" for aa in the CCC though.
In game press f3 and type 'stat fps' to see the difference.
I've yet to try this on ultra setting, currently I am playing on high with average 50-80 fps.
