I think it would be a huge addition to immersion if loss of key "platoon weapons" had an impact on a team, as it would irl.
Platoons did not have an endless supply of LMG and HMG units. Thus, their employment was conservative, and strategic instead of immediately applicable to the tactical situation.
I realize the game has to be fun too, but a MG spawning after it dies everytime seems a bit a-historical.
