Hey Angel,
I don't know if you remember me but I cut my RO teeth with all the folks you mentioned. Those were good times. About the only one I run into very often is REZ. He probably doesn't recognize me 'cause I've been playing under the alias in my sig.
Yeah, I miss Stilletto too.:(
That's a very admirable goal. I applaud your efforts.:)
I've got a small collection of US military rifles spanning from the late 1800s through the 1950s. My only foreign ones are a K98 and a couple Lugers but I'd like to expand on that. I'm trying to find the time to get some decent pictures to...
I've had that happen in my K98 with old, old ammo. Newer ammo works fine. I'm not sure but I don't think the bolt turns hard with sticky ammo. It's just hard to open. Ammo that's too hot also makes the bolt hard to turn as well as hard to open.
If I remember right, the glass on a Tiger was a block of five layers of somewhat bulletproof glass with another layer just behind that. US soldiers in WWII were instructed to shoot at the glass to try blind the tank. Thirty and fifty caliber full metal jacket bullets would only scratch and crack...
I've never heard of any in WWII. The only instance of a sniper being shot through their scope that I've heard of was when Carlos Hathcock killed an enemy sniper in Vietnam by shooting through his scope. It wasn't intentional. Carlos and his spotter were playing cat-and-mouse with the enemy...
Yeah, forget the bots. Playing offline is useful for learning the weapons and maps but the bots were never tuned. As soon as you learn the different movements and are familiar with your weapon just jump online. The worst anyone can do is shoot you, and we all get shot far too often.:)
That sounds like something I'd like to try. I'm another that doesn't get a lot of time to play and rarely at set times. I've played with you guys a couple times recently and had a good time. I think the last was Wednesday night. I was playing as Sammy.
...unless there is one Russian cowering across the river in Danzig with 3+ minutes left in the round, ignoring all pleas to get out and die like a man so the rest of the team can play again. A quick surrender vote could speed things up in that type of situation.
Other than cases like that, I...
Did you make sure you got all the updates? You should keep going back to Windows Update until it tells you there are no more updates. Also, driver updates aren't usually considered critical and don't always load automatically. You may have to select them manually.
You will rarely get all the...
Very nice post.
As we go about our lives, with it's own trials and tribulations, it's easy to forget that we have men and women fighting for their lives day and night. Whether you agree or disagree with the cause or purpose of the fight you should respect that when their country called, they...
Yeah, the old ammo scatter was a real pain. I like the new pouches a lot more. One drawback (small, small drawback) is that you can't share your ammo by throwing it on the ground and dividing it among two or three people.
I get my weapon shot away regularly. Amazingly I haven't been killed very...
Yep, virtual memory is actually hard disk space. When your RAM fills up then data is temporarily stored on the hard drive in a paging file. It treats the paging file like slow moving RAM or "virtual memory". The best fix is to add RAM so the system doesn't have to swap things to the hard disk...
A corollary to that:
If you are first into the cap zone you will die by a friendly nade.
Never be first into a cap zone. It's suicide.
Never be last into a cap zone. You're a slacker.
:D
Now that you mention it...:D
I love chess, it's the greatest war game ever.
And guitar, I bang around on an acoustic a bit.
Sadly, I have to work for a living and don't get nearly enough time for multiple hobbies.
Hunting and target shooting. I don't hunt as much as I used to but I still like to get outdoors while carrying a rifle. Target shooting is always fun whether I'm trying for bench-rest accuracy or ego-bruising offhand shooting.
Sometimes I hesitate if I've been on one team for a while but I usually switch to even the teams. A couple times recently I've left the server when teams became too imbalanced. I have very little play time these days and playing on severely imbalanced teams where no one is switching is just no...
I almost always choose bolt. With fewer players or certain maps I'll take a semi-auto. I've been known to take the MG or saper if I feel the team needs one and no one else has that role. Same with SMG but I try avoid those. I never take sniper.
I got to play for a couple hours last night. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary with the bolts (K98 & MN 91/30). I missed some shots that I thought should have hit but that always happens. It's either my bad aim or some little glitch. The vast majority of the time I hit when I had a...
