Alien Swarm

Just beat the campaign. It's just as good as the original - just one thing I found extremely disappointing: No Flynn. My space pirate is gone. It's also a lot harder to teamkill people (at least on normal and hard), I exploded many a time in the original because someone touched off my ammo pack with the flamer.

The game is awesome, has some bugs here and there, but its ****ing great.
Yeah, there was one extremely tough bug. Literally. He was completely invulnerable and wiped the team.

Anyone else think the commander IS Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs?

Ya I dunno how you guys are having issues. I have a pretty old comp, duocore 2.16ghz or something and a 4650. Running perfect on near max settings.

Anyways the game is a total blast. I just hope we get new maps soon. The variety of weaponry is awesome. My current fave is Jaeger + vindicator + telsa gun + freeze grenades. Vindicator one shots the basic common alien and does ****tons of damage to everything else, those inciendary nades are great too against the big aliens...and the telsa gun is great for when you're getting swarmed and dont wanna team dammage. Plus it's nearly impossible to run out of ammo on the telsa (good back up). Actually I think the telsa gun is a bit TOO good, and needs to be nerfed, not sure how though.

And the freeze grenades, again, are good when you're getting swarmed, or against a bunch of the giant aliens.

Try way more demanding. I can run KF on almost full settings. When I run AS at med, and someone fires off the secondary on the vindicator....instant lag, every time. And I surpass min spec (P4 3.4). Some of the graphical effects, like the grain filter and slow time, really do a number on weaker systems.

I doubt we'll get new maps. After releasing the SDK and Source code, I'd be surprised if they put any more effort into it.

The game is good enough however I would happily pay for some more campaigns. I'm also super excited to see what total conversion mods people can cook up for this.

I think we'll see more campaigns. BCG kept adding more content to the UT2K4 mod till the bitter end, and this campaign almost feels like a tutorial compared to the difficulty of the original.

The few things I didn't like are mostly superficial. For some reason, it seems they have removed the unique conversations marines would have with each other, which really added a lot of character to the game. Also, they don't have their unique armor colors anymore. I miss cobalt Crash and red Wildcat. Most importantly, where the hell is the queen? I loved the insanely intense boss fights in the mod.

Didn't play the mod, but I gotta say it's refreshing to play a game that's actually difficult. Even after beating it on normal last night, coming back with newbs today it's still challenging.

Although **** parasites. One bad parasite attack and all your heal juice goes bye bye.

If there is more content coming, I hope it comes soon, because I'd like to play on hard but am worried about burning out on just the 7 levels we have.

Some random thoughts after the first playthrough and getting to level 27:

Love Jaeger with a Vindicator - using the Vind with him can pretty much get you through the entire campaign, with varying secondaries and equipment.
I usually get either a sentry, when exploiting bottlenecks is in order, the stock assault rifle when I want some more long range firepower and flamer when no one else feels like burning those pesky parasites and biomass.

Also, absolutely adore it when a tech welds a door shut and generally playing with the HW specialist is usually a blast. =)

What I don't love are dem pesky parasites and dem large mortar spittin' bugs that just spam you with constant volleys of 3 exploding biles. D=
