Tanks, vehicles and other

Well, there were no StG44's, Panzerfausts, PPS43's and G43's in Stalingrad, so there's no point putting them in the game IMO. I still wanna see germans using PzB 39

I know! But it would be fine to have it available for custom maps.

So you could play the hole WW2 with one game, all you need are some new maps out of Stalingrad.

It would be pity if we got a wonderful game like HoS but only a few weapons of maps around the Stalingrad battle.
If you get the StG44 ... you play at much more WW2 battlefields like Stalingrad only.
I think it would be boring after a while, if you only play some Stalingrad maps. What's about the battles of Kursk, Smolensk, Poland, and east germany, wouldn't it be nice to play this scenarios too? With the new features of HoS?

I don't want to run throw the streets and underground of Stalingrad with a StG44 or Panzerschreck.

But by the way a Flamethrower would be nice for a Stalingrad Scenario ;)

Ah, and what is so special at the Panzerb

I really hope that after the release of HOS, twi will give primarily feature based updates and bugfixes. So new game modes, mutators etc. But content wise will start directly on something like Heroes of Berlin ideally as a hueg free dlc :p.

Berlin and Stalingrad would give a nice cover time frame wise :).
Heroes of Berlin would also introduce a crapload of new weapons. Would be sweet, but let them put all their focus on the main title first lol :)

It's good TWI concentrated next RO on just one big battle of Stalingrad so they can focus on details and also due to the less variety of weapons in 1942 it will be easier to develop the game thus making every weapon, gun, a tank to the perfection. Quality is important not quantity.

I've always only been happy that TWI focussed on a single particular battle, so it can really be done right. And so the single player portion could feel more like really participating in a battle a bit. However the focus on a single battle leaves great room for a "standalone expansion" out in Berlin. With all sorts of experimental weaponry :p

I'm a bit late to the conversation but my own take on the tank maps is that its what make RO unique for me. I do like the variety, the servers that specialise in just tank maps or combined ops or just infantry (although I despise the one map only servers). I like the choice.

I don't think theres any other first person game that simulates big scale tank battles as well as RO does without resorting to arcady nonsense. That is such a huge selling point for me, especially as I spend more time now (several years after release) on the German and Russian tank servers. Its an absolutely unique experience that really needs to be maintained. If the big maps were so rubbish we wouldn't be playing them time and time again.

Same here, Zog..in fact, I re-installed RO-Ost several weeks ago, because I missed those same big tankbattles.
Sure, graphics are very outdated, but the gameplay makes up for that.

I can't remember if you were playing but I had such an enjoyable game the other night on the Kursk map. We were getting totally out classed and out gunned by the Germans and it was all we could do to keep the ruins secured. I spent most of my time on foot as I kept getting shot up barely out of spawn. So in the end I walked to the ruins and stayed there with my binos calling out the positions and disposition of all the enemy tanks I could see along with another micced guy who was further to the left and covering my blind spots. Eventually winning that with seconds to spare was such a buzz as it felt like the good old days when we'd work together to cover each others backs and win as a team. Rose tinted glasses and all.

Could be, that I was there, but I can't remember haha.
Kursk is a map that I play allot lately, mostly on some German Pz10-something server.

Ruins is a nice place to hold, yes...especiallly if you're tank-commander, so you can call down artillery.
So I saw these 2 Panthers coming up to Ruins, and my own tank was destroyed....I made sure they saw me amongst the trees, marked that position on the map with my binocs, and ran upstairs and called down artillery.
I quickly left the place, and was hiding on the other side of the building, in the bushes.
Right at the moment they appeared where they last saw me, the artillery rained down on them LOL.
And so I was accused of being a coward :p ....rofl, 2 Panthers vs 1 infantry guy!
