Good cheap video card?

Try it on the old PSU first would be my advice as well (there's adapters for most connectors, sometimes they ship them with the gfx card even). I'm running a 4870 on a fairly old and weak PSU just fine.

What wattage?

Mine's 360 and it said it requires 400.

I just don't wanna blow it that would really suck.

Okay 360 may be a bit too low, I got a cheap (around 20 €) 420. Together with two HDs, one DVD drive, the mainboard stuff, 3 gig ram and at least 3 USB devices at any given time I never had a problem. I recently installed a 4th system (now 3x80 and 1x120) fan since i upgraded to a E8400. Maybe I'm lucky though.

360 sounds too risky though. Better upgrade. If you're feeling lucky you could still try, I think the chances of damaging your hardware are not too high.

Depends on the brand your using. If its a good branded PSU like Antec or Seasonic then i would take that 360W over the cheap 420W.

If its a cheapo PSU give it a try first but make sure you schedule an upgrade in the not too distant future.

Moved from Antec to Corsair myself.

The problem is that most of the components are made by a one or two company's and then assembled here and there.

well usually cards dont use as much as they are said to use, check some benchmarks to se how much it actually uses.

650 W? I doubt you need that unless you have a reeeaally thirsty sli-card.

I've got a 650 watt BFG, and it screams in protest sometimes under the load. I've got a Phenom X4 9850, 3 hard drives, a DVD burner, and a 4870.
