radical modification of class

i am pretty sure people will hate this idea, but here we go!

to me, there is just too many classes and some of them are pretty messed up.

here is how i would see the classes.

-rifleman/soldier. specialised in using military weapons;scars, bullpup, ak,flamethrower. he would get discount/bonus point only for those weapons.

-sniper. keep it the way it is right now.

-Medic. keep it the way he is but lower the speed. give him bonus for using the mp7.

-demolition expert. bonus/discount for explosives and shotgun AND the chainsaws. Basicly merging support and explosives in 1 class. if balence is an issue, slow him down or limitate the number of stuff he can carry.

-special forces. basicly the new berseker. big CQB skill, got discount/bonus for using melee weapons, pistol and grenade. a verry fast dude, but really limited in the number of stuff he can carry, give him 8 instead of 15.

anyway, feel free to comment.
 
I can't even begin to guess how the balancing would work with what you've said here but I do agree that maybe a condensed version of classes would be enjoyable and what you've listed off does sound fun.

I feel the berserker is really hopeless at this point to play with. The flamer only uses the flamethrower (looks boring to me). It seems if these two classes were upgraded/merged it would work out better.

Soldier with Scar and Flamethrower? nty
Sniper=Sharpshooter so no changes?
Medic= LOWER THE SPEED? the best advantage and yeah lets lower it give the mp7 a boost in damage ofc.. And how can medics survive then? mp7 a fleshpound? nty

Ofc demolitions with support combined heck give it a 60% damage bonus to headshots and lets make suicidal look like begginer with that

Oh yeah the new berserker more speed but even worse for playing?
Seriusly 8 pounds of weight? You can carry a chainsaw and nothing else or a katana and handcannons great idea...

These would be the only classes worth playing...except maybe Sharpshooter. "Special Forces" and "Medic" would be near useless as you gave these two classes all the good weapons.

When it is very obvious that basic design concerns were not taken into account (as tripwirechriss pointed out) one does not feel compelled to respond as length to you.

If you merge:
-Flamer still not a viable weapon because you don't have an in-class subweapon and little ammo. Slight reload doesn't help.
-Berserker seems worse. Kiting only.
-Demo doesn't really change much except buffing demoman slightly
-SS still OP.
Basically you fixes are done with no design or balance consideration and really contribute nothing to resolving the current gamestate.

This is probably a troll post, but I'll bite.

Not trying to be mean, but if you're "pretty sure people will hate this idea," then think twice about posting. Think about why the game is set up the way it is, etc. I'm not saying don't post, just stop and think about it for a little bit. You proposed arbitrarily combining the Support and Demolitions perks, as well as the Commando and Firebug, because you think there are "just too many classes and some of them are pretty messed up." Come on, chainsaw for the Demo?? The perk system probably took several man-months of work to script out, so you actually insulted TWI by suggesting this thread. Why throw the perk system out the window instead of applying small tweaks to balance it? Seriously, this is the worst idea I've ever seen on this forum. I'm all for "throwing ideas out there" to spark creative juices, but diluting the forum with crap posts lowers the integrity of the good ones. You have to have some accountability with what you write, even if it's on the internet. It's starting to get out of hand with the crazy ideas, need to tone it down a bit.

Remember, only the VERY BEST ideas that fit into the game style and maintain balance even stand a chance of being CONSIDERED for implementation.

The thought of combining demo and support has crossed my mind, since they both have grenade bonuses but I think the other classes are fine. No real need to change the names or combining any of the other ones. The perks could use some tweaking though to fix a lot of issues that are posted all over this forum.

Both demo and support aren't used much anymore. If demo could carry pipes, nade launcher, aa12, 10 nades, with all the bonuses to both support and demo, it would make it worth playing again. Something to consider IMO.

You serious? I see both demos and supports EVERY day, the only perks I see more rarely are firebugs and berserkers, except that Im often berserker myself. Combining demolitions and support... just no, that would be like another sharpshooter level perk - overpowered.

I prefer having many perks to choose from, so a big no for this whole idea. Not to mention it was thought only halfway through, with huge balance issues.

i didnt insulted the devs. i had guts feeling about an idea, and i didnt think twice before posting, thosr things happen.

i really dont understand why so many of you feel the need to be rude toward me for a botched suggestion. you dont need to be assoles to make me realize that i made a mistake.
