There is smaler, taller, thicker, ... bodies. In general lot of games using same hight or silhouette of playable characters. There is only difference between faces or other things like that.

Example of different hight in Multyplayer games:
Stay and look around, in 200 metres there is silhoutte of standard size of playable character. Easy target for rifle you think, distance is quite suitable, you try to shoot and all is OK. But what about smaller silhoutte, same distance from you only smaler size of character. You know that its 300 metres but it looks like 300 metres away. But if you dont know you try to shoot him, but you miss him due to wrong distance calculated in your mind.

....

Different height of characters would be immersive visual feature. I think this is a good idea.

Maybe there could be four to five different heights between 160-195 cm. Ofcourse short and very long soldiers would be minority. And height of character would be randomised and it would not have any effect to characters physical strength etc. (Which it in real life to some point would have. But that would make different characters unbalanced and bad for gameplay.)

So it would have to stick firmly only in visual aspect of game.

But for gameplay wise it wouldn

Seriously. Lately I have the feeling people demand ridiculous things for the sake of realism in this game. Sure, a little randomness in player height could be implemented at some point, but really... I wouldn't even have wasted a thought on it considering how many other important *gameplay aspects* there are.

How about we implement a random tripping factor (and I don't mean drugs). The streets of stalingrad weren't exactly cleaned up at a regular interval in the depicted period, so why not randomly trip and fall (comparable to weapons jamming)?

good idea...some soldiers are tall, other are lower.....some soldiers are thin, other are robust....in this way the game seems really and the soldiers are very different as in reality....this will give more realism to the game, very nice idea ;)

EDIT: the appearance of the body and of the face must be totally random for each respawn

and you guys do realise that this would completly throw basic map design right out of the window?

imagine being only 1.60m tall, you wont be able to look over many obstacles wich are designed that you can, wich would greatly hinder your use to cover terrain
on the other hand if someone is 2m tall, he wont be able to find cover easily

this combined with it being random would just make the game frustrating as ppl would be randomly affected by it, not even realising it untill they got to some sort of cover they normally are perfectly able to use

you are right, but you can randomize by 1,65 m to 1,80 m....it's a small difference that increase the realism but not damage the playability of the game, and if one soldier is a little fatter than other one, this won't be a problem....small physical differences will increase the realism of the game without create problems of playability :)
