When i was watching some clips of the old ro mod i was surprised about how much better the weapons sounds are,check this

although i do indeed find a lot of the mod sounds cooler sounding. For ostfront all the sounds of weapons were recorded from the actual weapons itself, and if not available from a comparable weapon. I believe the mod sounds were created manually from videos reference data and stuff like that.

Sounds much better, though I doubt it will be changed, even if it is such a minor thing. Anyway, I'm guessing lots of others prefer the current sound.

the older sound made it sound powerful and awesome, now its just an mp40 with a longer barrel

The TWI soundguy posted it in a few threads back in the days. There was a lot of talk about how great the sounds are in Ostfront.

I must've missed that. That is weird, I had the chance to hear a real StG 44 on a range recently (not fire it ) and it sounded a lot deeper. The MP 40 (semi-auto clone) had a much more metallic and "longer" sound, too. Not the pop pop you hear in RO, you heard a lot of the bolt's movement and friction inside the gun. The MG42 is close to how I remember the MG3 but again it should sound deeper with more bass. IMO.

I've always considered the mod STG44 sound much better, it sounded loud and real. The Ostfront STG44 sounds a bit as if it shoots rubber bullets.

All weapons sound a bit more muffled. Probably because its a ***** to record gun sounds with a microphone.
