Engine Update / Performance Issues

Hi everybody,

me and my friends got all together new pc's (2GB Ram AMD dual core 7900 geforce) they were cheaper together, but our problem is still that RO is running slow 24 till 35 fps depending on the map, we guess that this is an engine problem.
Today we have tried the new AmericasArmy 2.8.3 which uses the same engine like RO but running, even at wide and complex area maps it runs with 70+ fps.

Maybe some of the devs could ask the AA devolopers how they achieved it.

Please this is just a suggestion so please no bashing, mocking or other unproductive posts.
 
Quick answer: Besides sharing some of the UE code base, AA and RO do not have a lot in common. Actually they are completely different beasts.

You actually have one answer in your posting:

... depending on the map ...

A tank map in RO is pretty hard on your comp (and it is not only the viewing range), a small urban infantry map isnt' a big deal. (Not to talk about different features in the game)

Using the same engine does not mean they are the same game with different models and textures.

It is a "little" bit more ;)
