Has anyone else here played(and loved) the Homeworld series?

I've just checked the relic forums and amazed how many people are still supporting it, even though the future of the series is not looking good.

I've played all the series and still think the first HW is the best. It had such a story, playability that hooked me. Cataclysm was great too, but I think HW2 was a bit disappointing.

I must have finished the HW1 SP 4-5 times, and I'm installing it again right now :)

It's technically Agnus Dei, his eight part arrangement for mixed chorus, and it almost made me cry. First time through the game I sat and watched the credits for the sole purpose of finding out the name of that song. Well, and enjoying some Yes :) It's still one of my favourite pieces of classical music, and one I could listen to forever :)

I'm conflicted on which of the three is my favourite, which isn't helped by being unable to find my HW1 and Cat disks. I liked Karan Sjet's voice in the first one the best, I think, and it had a great, great story. Plus it was something new to me. And unlimited capturing in multi :)

Cat had the Beast in multi, with the awesome assimilation weapon, but fairly severe unit caps and no more unlimited captures :( But it shared the parallel construction system with the first one, which I found sorely lacking in H2. It also had a pretty good story in it's own right, and who doesn't love a seige cannon? :)

I also found H2s story somewhat unsatisfying, and seeming a bit rushed towards the end. I really like almost all of what was done to the interface *except* for the removal of parallel construction. I assume it was removed to slow down gameplay, but I still miss it. It had some clever levels in it, also some annoying ones. But mods do give it new hope; Dust Wars is apparently using ideas and scripts "leaked" from sierra to build a full SP game with all new units and tech trees. And of course, who doesn't love Star Wars? :)

Damnit, now I'm hearing Karan saying "Kharak is burning" *sniffle*

Side note: I just dug out my H1 manual, and it's *huge*. Plus all the histories and tech briefings and background....they really loved making this game :) Everyone remember when games came in boxes big enough to hold something this big? :)

Hey I have Homeworld 2. Never played the first one though. Is it worth getting the first one (and the expansion pack) if you already have the sequel?
I think H2 is one of the most uniquely atmospheric games ever made. Even now the graphics are awesome. And every single ship to ship engagement seems like a beautifully orchestrated ballet. I'm afraid I'm not good at this game though. There's just too many ships to babysit and the stupid "shield" ships (don't remember what they're called) do not follow the fleet of ships they're supposed to protect. Did I mention the atmosphere is unbelievable? It's not a game you play as much as a whole unique experience. The music, the storytelling, the fights, and collosal awe inspiring ships really make me wet my pants.
If there's one game that could remove me from RO, Homeworld 2 is it. :)

I did enjoy playing Homeworld 2, but the story of Homeworld 1 far supasses it. Though the graphics are a bit outdated, I still find myself sometimes dusting off the CD case and installing the game to play through the story and fable driven single players. To this date, I really haven't found too many games that come close to the immersion and the "feeling that you're making a difference" in the Single Player campaign than Homeworld 1.

But again, if you guys want a good mod for Homeworld 2, get Star Wars: Warlord. Be warned though, building a Super Star Destroyer may lag your system a bit! :D

I've been making some progress in game. I'm amazed how good it's still looking after 7 years. Enjoy :)

Attacks Bombers are having a refit on a Support Frigate.

Heh, I once downloaded this savegame in which this guy captured ALL the ships from the Taiidan "defense sphere" of frigates defending the final hyperspace inhibitor to Hiigara.

The fleet was needless to say, very, very large. :D

Oh, here's some pics from the Star Wars mod of HW2, you guys be the judge. I personally think it's freaking awesome to be able to control this:

Here's a TIE Interceptor. Some really great models in this game, rivals some retail (or even tops it):

Hey! Anyone play the China made HW2's GUNDAM MOD2.5?

And my friends are making the latest GUNDAM MOD 3.0, here are some first released pics:

That's the MS-14F and MS-14JS in the animation:

This GUNDAM MOD3.0 is still made by the AK47_TZJ and his group, they are trying to make a whole campain for the new version. Possibly the story is based on the animation "GUNDAM 0083- Stardust Memory" rather than the "GUNDAM 0079".

------------------------------------------------------------
And here is another GUNDAM SEED MOD also made in China (by another group, not by AK47_TZJ). GUNDAM SEED is another GUNDAM animation, but totally not the same thing as GUNDAM 0079 and 0083. Its story is new and doesn't have any relationship with the GUNDAM 0079 series.

That's some pics of the GUNDAM SEED MOD:
