What sort of hardware......

Sgt. Rock, you must get like 9999 FPS on all games with that setup! How much it all cost you?

Lol, well I havent encountered a game yet that I cant play on everything maximum (except resolution, I can only hit 1280 x 1024, moniter limitation :D :p )

But it did cost me around 1800 dollars, though the OP's computer outclasses mine by a little.

Onboard audio (I wear headphones, why do I care about anything better?)

Because a good sound-card could add as much as 5-10 FPS to your games, onboard sound eats resources and does not support many features, its often a bottle-neck in peoples system.

If you upgraded with a proper sound-card you could very well see an overall boost in FPS, and certainly less negative spikes in FPS (thease can occur when system memory and CPU is beeing redirected to render many sounds, something any decent sound-card should do on its own).

Its not all about sound quality, its just as much about system performance, and an Audigy-2 for instance is not very expensive thease days, its a cheap upgrade that could make quite the difference in some systems.

Just some freindly advice ;)

You're better off waiting for "conroe" from intel, due out sometime in July. Do a search on it. From the looks of things its gonna be at least a year before AMD have something that compares in terms of performance. This will be my first Intel chip since my P120 :D. Just got a crappy XP2400+ atm with a Geforce 6800LE

For anyone with lower end video cards (GeForce 5200? Yikes!) I have a GeForce 6600GT (AGP) that is now unused. Would be happy to see it have a new home; especially with an RO player!

EDIT: Oh yeah, system specs:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3800+ (AM2)
Motherboard: ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe
RAM: 1GB OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum Dual Channel EL
Video: eVGA Geforce 7600GT 256MB
HD: 74GB WD Raptor
Sound: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS
Screen: 19" Acer LCD (6ms response time)

Runs great with 4xAA and everything maxed!
