Onboard audio (I wear headphones, why do I care about anything better?)
Because a good sound-card could add as much as 5-10 FPS to your games, onboard sound eats resources and does not support many features, its often a bottle-neck in peoples system.
If you upgraded with a proper sound-card you could very well see an overall boost in FPS, and certainly less negative spikes in FPS (thease can occur when system memory and CPU is beeing redirected to render many sounds, something any decent sound-card should do on its own).
Its not all about sound quality, its just as much about system performance, and an Audigy-2 for instance is not very expensive thease days, its a cheap upgrade that could make quite the difference in some systems.
Just some freindly advice
