"Red Barracks" vs. "Red Barricades"

More and more and with consistency I see references to a map called "Barricades" or "Red Barricades" that will be available at launch. Since the screen we saw of the campaign map shows an area called "Barrikady" I can only assume these are one at the same.

There's just a tiny problem, the name of the factory upon which this map is based "Красные Баррикады" from which "Barrikady" is derived means "Red Barricades," a reference to the revolution, not "barracks." There were probably barracks and settlements nearby for the workers, but if the area was actually called "Red Barracks" by the Soviets it would have been "Красные Казармы." The place still exists today: http://www.barricady.ru/

But wait, there's more! There's an actual area in Stalingrad called Red Barracks, but it's south of the Mamai Heights, in the area designated "West" on the campaign map above. Is this the area that the Barracks map actually portrays? If so, what happened to the "Barrikady" shown on the campaign map? That screenshot may be very old and obsolete, so things may have changed.

Now I don't know what kind of fighting took place at the Red Barracks, but I think the Red Barricades factory was a higher priority target for the Germans, especially after the deliberate push into the industrial sector. Maybe TWI wanted an office-space map and Red Barracks was the perfect location they found, and they already had a factory level (probably the "Krasnyy [Oktyabr]" in the screenshot) so they wanted to diversify, that's fine with me. It's just a little confusing.

The final assualt on the Barrikady factory was by specialised German pioneers...they where slowley worn down by a small pocket of Russians and that pocket was known as The Island of Fire...an amazing book that is very expensive but is well worth the money is "Island of Fire" by Jason Marks leapinghorsemen press (who also have published other Stalingrad books that are superb......

The pioneers never managed to clear the whole area before the Russian counter attack and in the end those who where left surrendered and only a handful returned to Germany in the 1950's.

The map will be the Barrikady Factory I'm sure as the battle was a major one....

If you want I can give a good run down of the battle at some point....

Didn;'t the Germans eventually just run through the front entrance because they couldn't breach it? Shame it was demolished post war.

Yeah they did try blasting through...the cellar windows where all blocked up with rubble....they then went for the forntal assault through the enterance....was a bloody battel that went to and fro for awhile....infact when the Germans took it everytime they went to go into the cellar they hwere hit by gun fire...so they just threw some grenades down there and left it at that...the Russians still survived and if memory recalls help take the house back at one point. The Germans even blew holes in the upstairs floor and dropped chrages down.

I see there is a barracks map so must be the barracks...which will be very starnge if it is and there isn't a Barikady map.
