I'll contribute my 3, both to show my age, and to teach some of you halo kids a lesson :]


Skate or Die, for the C=64.. the rumour is they had to actually abuse a fluke in the SID chip in order to get it to sound like this. (1987)

'Wanderer' from Ultima 3 (for the C64/Apple][e, the one for the NES was slightly different, and not as good) (1983)

But my personal all-time fav is 'Stones' by David R Watson, also from the Ultima franchise. circa 1988. Unfortunately I absolutely dispise the lyrics.. mostly because I went 10 years (and 4 ultima titles) w/o hearing them.

Mechwarrior 2, the whole soundtrack is awesome, but here's just a few that sticks out in my mind:
