Squad Tankers and Tankrider Infantrymen, join the Red Army's 181st Tank Brigade!

efo219.png

”This is the B.B.C. and here is the 6 o’clock news…”

There was heavy fighting on the Eastern Front today as two German offensives were halted by our gallant Soviet allies.

An infantry assault from Axis map sector II against the city of Odessa carried out by the 3rd SS Panzer Division was annihilated by dismounted elements of the Soviet’s 181st Tank Brigade. This successful defense enables the Red Army to maintain their foothold in enemy territory by controlling Axis map sector III as a forward location from which to launch their expected counter-offensive deeper into the heart of Germany.

In the Baksan Valley region of Allied map sector XII, the Soviet’s 8th Guards Division defeated an attack by the 20th Panzergrenadier Division and forced the Germans back into their occupied Allied map sector XI. The 8th Guards are preparing an all-out offensive to relieve their long-suffering countrymen in sector XI who have been under German occupation since the opening phase of the campaign.

In Allied map sector XIII, the 3rd Shock Army and 193rd Rifle Division have completed their defensive preparations around the Rakowice airfield and expect an assault by the 5th SS Panzer Division at any time. Containing this assault is critical to the Soviet war effort as enemy control of map sector XIII could cut off the armored spearhead of 181st Tank Brigade in Axis map sector III and force the Soviet unit to delay its planned counter-offensive.

A task force of the 181st Tank Brigade has arrived in Allied map sector XIV to take up defensive positions at the village of Arad. An attack by mechanized forces of the German’s 9th and 2nd SS Panzer Divisions against this sector is expected as the enemy seeks to threaten the southern flank of the remainder of the Soviet defensive line.

Step forward, Comrades, and join the mighty 181st Tank Brigade!

”This is the B.B.C. and here is the 6 o’clock news…”

The Soviet High Command reports a task force of their 181st Tank Brigade in Allied map sector XIV destroyed an armored assault force from the German 9th and 2nd SS Panzer Divisions at the village of Arad and the German offensive has been halted.

Despite Soviet claims, fresh German units are reported to be continuing the attack.

The German 1st SS Panzer Division, thought to have been withdrawn from the front, has been spotted in map sector XI moving to threaten Allied map sector XII. Dismounted elements of the 181st Tank Brigade are preparing defensive positions in the city of Odessa to turn back this latest Axis threat.

181st Tank Brigade's valiant Tankrider Infantry Platoon have, for a second time in this German offensive, successfully defended the city of Odessa as the attacking Panzergrenadiers of 1st SS Panzer Division were defeated in 4 rounds of vicious city fighting.

Well done to you, Tankriders and Tankers/Scouts that supported them. Now WE go onto the attack, and the Tanks of the Red Army roll deeper into enemy territory.

FORWARD, COMRADES!!

”This is the B.B.C. and here is the 6 o’clock news…”

In developments on the Eastern Front, the Soviet forces continue a massive counter-attack to drive deeper into the heart of the Reich.

The Soviet High Command reports a task force of their 181st Tank Brigade in Allied occupied Axis map sector III has attacked and destroyed elements of 3rd SS Panzer Division defending the village of Ogledow. The Soviet tankers pursuing the fleeing enemy have occupied Axis map sector II and are preparing to meet German counter-attack attempts to push their forces back to the east.

A frontal assault from Allied map sector XXI by the Soviet’s 8th Guards Army against the 5th SS Panzer Division at Arad in map sector XI was turned back as powerful enemy panzer forces were encountered.

To encircle and cut off this strong defensive position, a second task force of the 181st Tank has attacked from Allied map sector XII and captured the Rakowice Airfield from defenders of the 2nd SS Panzer Division. The Soviet Tank Brigade is sending its Tankrider Infantry forward to continue the attack and seize Baksan Valley. Control of this vital objective will force the withdrawal of all German forces from Sector XI and return it to Allied control.

The German 20th Panzergrenadier Division is reported to be on the move to meet this latest Red Army offensive thrust.

In a bold move to outflank the entire German defensive line, elements of the 8th Guards Army have been committed to an amphibious assault to capture Axis map sector X from defenders of the 1st SS Panzer Division’s Panzergrenadier Regiment. This is a very risky move by the Soviets as a failure to capture Sector XI could leave any amphibious bridgehead in enemy territory completely cut off from supporting elements.

In Allied map sector XIV, the 3rd Shock Army and 193rd Rifle Division are in Red Army reserve and will be committed to defensive operations to retain control of captured sectors.

”This is the B.B.C. and here is the 6 o’clock news…”

On the Eastern Front today, the German counter-offensive has been halted by fierce and determined resistance by our gallant Soviet allies.

In an attempt to turn the flank of the main Red Army positions, 1st SS Panzer Division’s Panzergrenadier Regiment was committed to an amphibious assault from Axis Sector X to attack the Baksan Valley region of Allied map sector XXI. This attack was met by dismounted elements of the Soviet’s 181st Tank Brigade and was repulsed with heavy losses to the enemy forces. Sector XXI remains firmly in Allied hands.

The main effort of the German advance has been directed towards the hotly contested Allied map sector XI. A mechanized infantry attack on Rakowice Airfield by the 20th Panzergrenadier Division, reinforced with elements of the 369th Croatian Infantry Regiment as well as the Wehrmacht’s newly arrived 3rd Panzergrenadier Division, was destroyed by the Red Army’s 181st Tank Brigade. The 181st remains committed to the defense of sector XI as the German 5th SS Panzer Division is reported to be closing on Odessa and is preparing to conduct a dismounted assault of the city.

The German 2nd SS Panzer Division has been identified occupying an attack position in Axis map sector IV and is preparing to assault Allied controlled Axis map sector II. Forward elements of the enemy unit have contacted a reconnaissance screen of the Soviet 3rd Shock Army defending the sector at Bondarevo.

The expected assault by 3rd SS Panzer Division against map sector II was discovered to be a feint to draw Soviet reserves away from the German’s main attacks against Soviet map sector XI. There have been no reports of other enemy activity along the front, with the 3rd and 9th SS Panzer Divisions apparently having broken contact and withdrawing to the West.

The Soviet 8th Guards Army and 193rd Rifle Division are reconstituting under STAVKA command and remain in general reserve.

181st Tank Brigade remains in the thick of the fighting and has earned an EFO combat record to be proud of! Join today and defend the Motherland. OOOOORRRRRAAAHHH!

”This is the B.B.C. and here is the 6 o’clock news…”

On the Eastern Front today, the Soviet forces report their spring offensive is underway.

In Allied map sector XI, a successful spoiling attack by the German 5th SS Division with support elements of the 20th Panzergrenadier Division temporarily captured the city of Odessa from defenders of the Red Army's 181st Tank Brigade. The city was soon re-occupied by Soviet forces as the enemy withdrew in response to a frantic order from the German High Command that all available combat elements in the area were to regroup in map sector V to prevent Red Army tank forces from occupying the Axis capital in map sector I.

The surviving elements of the 5th SS Division as well as those of the Wehrmacht's 3rd and 20th Panzergrenadier Divisions have been joined together in a Kampfgruppe commanded by 5th SS's Hauptsturmfuhrer Karlssen, the officer who led the successful attack against Odessa.

KG Karlssen is reported to be moving to intercept armored elements of the 181st Tank Brigade who are racing westward from Red Army occupied Axis map sector II into Axis map sector V. Reconnaissance elements of both units are skirmishing on the heights of the Orel sector, and an armored battle there appears to be imminent.

In a supporting attack, the Soviet 3rd Shock Army is advancing into Axis map sector IV from map sector II. With available German units scrambling to intercept the Russian armor, so far no enemy unit has been reported in this defenseless sector as the Red Army forces advance on the village of Arad.

Further to the south, the Red Army's 193rd Rifle Divison attacks Axis map sector X from Allied map sector XI in an attempt to draw enemy forces away from the main attack. The Germans have responsed with elements of 1st and 2nd SS Divisions preparing to defend Bondarevo to block the Soviet advance down the coastal region.

The Soviet 8th Guards Army remain under STAVKA command in general reserve. No Axis reinforcements have been spotted moving into the region.

We're almost there, Comrades! We will be able to see the city of Berlin from the Central Heights! On.. ON TO VICTORY AT OREL!
