Here is another picture for the Barrikady. But it's not in the Lower Settlement of the Barrikady (Where Commisars House is).

That picture is men of Infanterie-Regiment 577 (305. Infanterie-Division) taken on the 16th October 1942. The large factory building in the background is work hall 5, this work hall was used for forging and casting.

During the night Chuikov moved his HQ from the Tsaritsa gully to a position on the Volga river bank, 800 m north of the Red October Factory (Beevor, 1999; Chuikov, 1963). This was an unprotect site just under some giant oil-storage tanks. The latter were assumed to be empty but subsequently this was found to be incorrect. "

The old department store's facade has a hotel built right in front of it, and now it's hidden in a backalley and is no longer used as the front of the store - it's actually the back of the store now. The new entrance is basically what was once the side, and now instead of being on the corner, it's smack between two buildings. If you're walking through the park, you can't miss it, it says UNIVERMAG in giant letters.

Alan and Ingmar of TWI (and myself) actually gave the director of the modern Univermag a bottle of single malt in return for a tour of the building (although you can get that by just shopping there) and access to the architectural plans for the original building. Fact.
