I much prefer bigger and clearer perk icons as opposed to everyone showing off their prestige levels. Besides, I believe it’s going to look silly when most players will reach max prestige and these golden “wings” emblems would pop out everywhere.
So my suggestion is to add a gameplay setting to make it possible tone it down and replace it with some sort of stripe or star patterns. E.g. right now:
