New HD question?

My old 160 gig drive from an accent Dell I used to own just doesnt cut it anymore I can't have more than a few of my newer bigger games on it at one time, so I was looking at these but they all seem the same (to me) does anyone have any words of wisdom?

Not really much to choose with normal hard drive these days, heck I cant even remember the brand of the drive I got 6months ago.

7200rpm and 16mb+ cache seem to be the good standard these days and as long as you dont go for some dodgy brand it should be fine. Though I'm sure someone will know more otherwise.

Get a Samsung F3 or a WD Black if you want the best, or go for one of the "green" series if you want one that use less power.

Hmm, not sure about Samsung but defiantly the WD Black.

I'm gonna get one of these http://www.materiel.net/ctl/Disques...796-Deskstar_7K1000_C_S_ATA_500_Go_16_Mo.html and throw a Window's 7 on it. and slowly but surely make the transition from XP.

The F3 might not be that great on random read/write but its avg. read/write is faster then Raptors and are near SSDs in performance. But sure WD Black would be better in a average system, but its all down to how you plan to use it.

I got my OS on a Raptor, due to its good speeds on most stats. A SSD (X25-M) as my program/game HD and a old WD 300GB as storage (have to replace that soon tho).
