Loss of sound ingame

This has happened to me several times just after a new map has loaded, after around an hour of playing. Need to restart the game to get it back. I've noticed that at the very moment you disconnect from the server you can hear sounds, but only for one frame or so (few milliseconds).

I've got a Creative 'SupremeFX X-Fi' sound card (came with the motherboard, an ASUS Maximums III Formula).

when the sound lags so does the game
i think this also causes CTD

sound gone after mapchange. only at some servers. fix pls
