Is Lying good? or bad?

The average Human tells (on average) 8 lies per day of different qualities.
Most are white lies or of little consequence.
I'm not sure if good or bad is enough to cover the subject.
Do we sometimes need to tell a lie for the better or for the worse.
A very interesting subject, believe me (or not)

if you ask me. I think lying is good!
Lying, "coruptness" and simular stuff will always be a thing that will be in this world. getting lied to once in a while will make you a better critic. and beeing sceptical to things is a good thing.
its just like all these "cures" they have for fat people. they say that the pills or this shake will magically make ur fat dissipear. but does it work? nope. (usually theres a note with the pills, shake, fruit bar, etc. that says you should also train or dont eat after taken the "magic cure") its all a lie.
and then there are those "fancy pants duds" that says: "if there hadn't been lying in the world. then we could stop being sceptical to each other, and then we could have a easy and a good life!"
well, if someone did make a mistake, example by putting a "skyscraper" horizontally on the "eiffel tower" and there was no one who was sceptical to it.
Well, then the world had been pretty much screwed up!

I only lie if it makes things easier.
Like for example:
-Family member calls me and I take a while to answer because I'm still in bed.
"Were you still in your bed?"
"No, I was on the toilet"
"oh ok"
or
-Me not going to art school because I don't have anything to do there that day, I would just be bored in class, besides the teacher won't mind, most of my fellow students are much older than me and they do the same thing, basically if you don't want to come that day then don't come. Also in this situation my parents aren't home.
Parents come home
Mum: Did you go to school today?
Me: Yea
The end
If I would say the truth it would be like this
Mum: Did you go to school?
Me: No
Mum: oh why not? I don't like this! You should go every time! Doesn't the teacher notice that you're not there? Don't you like the schoo? Did something bad happen? Why didn't you go? Are you going to stop going to school? You have to continue this school!
