Have the powers that be decided on the games next move yet?

To be honest, I would be happy to see some sort of an expansion. Despite my wishing for more content (at the time for tanks/maps etc similar to ROOST), the Rising Storm expansion exceeded my expectations.

Another expansion could be very enticing.

+1
I would be happy with every expansion, still I think some underdog scenarios could be more great than an other beach landing in France....
....Anzio, Salerno, Kreta, Tobruk, El Alamein, Tunis, Sicily,.... :D

Several months ago, Yoshiro told us that if we wanted to be able to experience the next big thing in the RO2 franchise we would have to buy/acquire Rising Storm. Haven't heard anything about it since.

Well...?

My 1st guess would be a map that re-introduces the Ha-go and Stuart. But I've long since stopped playing Rising Storm, so would take something like adding tanks to regain my interest.

I'm with both of you in that I would like to see another expansion in the vein of RS and that's what I expect we'll see when it's all said and done. It's just that with RS, we knew about it from the get-go. The only thing that we didn't know is whether or not it was going to be free or if we'd have to pay for it. There were no great secrets that there would be a Pacific Theater expansion added to the franchise. The Mod team said "this is what we're going to do" and they did it. This time around it feels like we're being baited. Yoshiro's talk of us NEEDING to own RS in order to play what ever comes next hasn't been backed up by anything (yet). All that has been said is stuff like, "...we'll see how this update/tank/APC is received by the community and go from there, yadda yadda yadda".

And what of the community's reaction to the updates? How exactly is this gauged? This forum is basically on life support (and the Steam forum isn't much more active) and in much older posts we were told that the forum represents a very small number of actual players so from where are they getting their feedback/community reaction?

Well, as most may have guessed, you'd probably have the Americans vs Germans, or less likely, a Russian-Japanese scenario if you'd be required to own Rising Storm... although that doesn't sound quite right since you can still play RS without buying it; the whole not splitting up the player base deal.

Probably won't hear much soon if anything at all even if something is in the works since the concentration is on KF2.

The mere fact that no one from Tripwire or AMG has responded to this post makes it clear to me that no decision as to the future direction of this game has been decided upon. I should have kept my $5.00.

the people on this forum are notorious for throwing toys out of the pram, I wouldn't expect any announcement until things are almost 100% certain.

While I think most of the major work on RO2 is long behind us and it's pretty much where it's going to be.....

AKA: If they decided to hang up RO2 now, it wouldn't surprise me or phase me, it is a few years old now and player base has never really improved much over the years.

..... I would also not be surprised if one or two additional features / modifications would be brought in before the game is shelved by the devs.

Obviously the main focus is now Killing Floor 2, but let's not forget that while the dev's main focus during RO2's development was RO2, they still had content and updates coming to Killing Floor 1 during that time.

Anything is possible, but I would have thought the PIII and T70 would have been the final add on at this stage. Anything else beyond now would probably be one or two more additional content features or at the very best, the Western Front concept of the US vs. Germany... and then that's it.

All speculation at this point like always, but there ya go.

Well, I'd think a southern front (*Mediterranean campaign) could also be a possibility. You'd have the Germans and Americans and because of the terrain, need minimal vehicles so perhaps only adding a Sherman to the mix. Other factions such as the Italians/British/Australians etc could be added, or not. Point being you'd be reusing most of the assets already in the game so theoretically less work would be needed. TWI could make money on an expansion and players could get a new front, and the game could get new and continued life.

But as Praxius says, all speculation.

* Meaning Sicily or Italy...

Actually, Psycho Pigeon's response pretty much confirms my suspicion. "I wouldn't expect any announcement until things are almost 100% certain." sounds a whole lot like, "we don't know exactly which direction we are heading in yet".

And Psycho, I'm not throwing the toys out of anything. I just stated that it is my belief that after several months since it was first mentioned, AMG and TWI have still not settled on which direction to take the next phase of development. By this I mean whether it will be a full-blown expansion like RS, further piecemeal content additions (such as additional vehicles or weapons), or some other idea I haven't mentioned.

1) I wish they would make a IOM like game (what we have now and what we will get in the IOM-future).

2) A more RO:Ostfront style of tanking.
Leave/enter tanks, tank riding infantry, a good number of vehicles and tanks. Better hitzones, better damagemodel, better sounds. Enemy infantry should be able to jump on a tank and throw a grenade inside a open hatch (when they shoot the tank commander first e.g.)

3) And of course a game about the whole WW2 again. Maps and Uniforms for every big battlefield (Europe, Northafrica, Russia and Pazific).

4) More unique maps, not the same weapon layout for every map.

5) No crazy unlocks! Just some cosmetic stuff, like choose max. 2 medals, helmet camo, boots or shoes, rolled up or lond sleeves, choose your head and voice.

6) More mission like map targets to win the round
- Break through the enemy line, find some secret documents (could be found on random spots), bring them back into your lines.
- attack a bridge before the enemy is able to blow it up (mix of capping and S&D)
- Escort a AI convoy through a partizan forest
- Commando Missions: Found and Kill the enemy leader (for small teams) or free some POW

.

Ok. You here what you want to hear. But I doubt TWI will announce anything early like you want them to, due to the toy throwing that results when things don't go according to plan.
