would it be a bad idea where u can have a handcannon (desert eagle) in one hand and a 9mm in the other?
I was going to diss the idea but come to think of it, there are situations where that setup would work, assuming you could actually control which pistol you fired.
I recall there use to be a HF mod called "The Specialist" where you could toggle fire mode for dual pistols / SMGs between automatic (like in KF and most FPS, each click toggles between the two guns) and manual fire, where left mouse button fires the left gun and right fires the right. You could even press both to let off two shots at once. MW2 stole that idea recently and then allowed you to reload each gun individually while keeping the other pointed to the front. How you can reload a sawed off shotgun with one hand is beyond me though.
But anyway suppose we allow one 9mm and one handcannon, and set it so primary fire shoots one and alt shoots the other. I could picture myself using 9mm for crawlers, stalkers and clots and handcannon for the rest. But the difference is fairly marginal. And we should definitely not allow reloading one pistol while still allowing the other to shoot.
There are many different issues with this. First, what is fire and what is melee. Ideally you'd use alt-fire but then you can't alt-fire your weapons, and for that matter which weapons would you alt-fire anyway.Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Kinda weird, but probably quite useful.
Let's add other options for akimbo, for example any combination of: 9MM, HC, Knife and machete Machete.
Letting berserker dual-wield a machete with handcannon would be a much needed buff for the class.
