Ugh. I hate the Bren Gun ever since "Bren in Bren" became a dominant British strategy on Company of Heroes. Anyone who plays that game online will know what I'm talking about...

It's a bit of an odd choice, but if you're going for Vintage weapons for some reason, the Bren Gun and the Vickers MG are probably the 2 you'd be most likely to find in Britain.

That said...the Heavy Gunner perk idea is iffy at best and tacking this gun onto another perk wouldn't really feel right, IMO.

You know what i was thinking Gibby?

You know how im always talking about changing the weight/encumbrance of Bullpup and SCAR? That Bullpup goes down to 5 (from 6) and SCAR goes up to 7 (from 5)?

If you would like the Bren to be carriable with any of the other Commando weapons, wouldn't the Bullpup be the most balanced along with it? Then, put the Bren gun with a weight of 9. That would only allow (with the other above changes) the Bren to be carried with the Bullpup :)

And what if the Bren had piercing bullets (instead of the SCAR, which im quite often suggesting)? ;)

I have no stance on the weight, but I imagined people would be leaning towards the idea of using a Handcannon (or Mk23 ) instead. However, piercing bullets would be very good to have to help it stand out a little more from the other commando weapons. It just has to be done right.

+:IS2:

The thread is an argument about if it should go to commando or support. The Heavy Gunner perk is another thread.

Actually it isn't, this is just about how an LMG can work in KF without having to make an all-new perk and also attempting to counter all anti-LMG arguments, which is backed up mostly by the Bren's design.

Yeah, well this is KF, not CoH. That tactic (whatever it is) won't be seen here, so you have no reason to worry.

The tactic involves shredding an armored car or severely damaging a light tank using a Bren Gun-equipped squad inside of a Bren Carrier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bren_carrier).

Needless to say, the Bren is a very devastating gun. I hate it in a good way, because I love my armored cars...

I'm just not sure it's right for KF. I'd like to see it in a mod just to get a feel for what we're dealing with, though!

Oh my god, I did 1v1 with a friend once. Had him pushed back to his base with the starting bren carrier and infantry squad you start with.

Self Repair is OP early on, god damn.

I meant moreso all of the additional comments, not the OP.

a little off-topic, but the bren gun isnt even british, its czechoslavkian. when it was produced at enfield, it was then called BrEn (brno mfctr in cz+enfield mfctr in britain)

and it would be hard as hell to code in prone (+the animations) and code in being able to set the mg's on surfaces.

Actually, the Bren is British; just a modified czech design based on the ZB vz. 26.

I suppose it's like saying the Sako Valmet Rk 62, Type 68 or Galil is a Russian design.

It'a also like saying the F88 isn't Aussie

I have never seen the "Supporter" actually being a supporting class. So I don't see any reason to give a non-shotgun weapon to the support specialist.

For the gun itself, i'd like to see it more like the BAR, with an even smaller magazine and an awfully slow rof. Powerful, penetrating, but therefor decently spraying. Not even the first shot should be precise (just mark the middle of your screen and fire some weapons from the hip, its ridiculous), so you have to aim for the torso and score body shots.

I don't mind the new gun weighing 10kg... it used to be normal in KF to have one big gun and Hand Cannons. (Although Bulpup and Scar should be balanced in weight)
