Tactics Best Commando loadout?

While AK/SCAR/MP7 is my most common Commando loadout, using the regular shotgun with any of the Commando weapons (Shotgun+SCAR can also carry a Machete if you want to). It's decently effective actually, but the main purpose is that it's fun :)

I have experimented with assault rifle + combat shotgun.

No, seriously. Stop laughing.

I started using this combination for a while when I noticed that, for some reason, it seemed the Commando could reload the combat shotgun more quickly than the Support Specialist could. Since (in my opinion) the slow reload rate is the combat shotgun's chief disadvantage, I decided to give it a try.

I found that it was actually pretty useful in some situations. It significantly increased my ability to deal with larger zeds. And it blew away large numbers of smaller zeds very quickly, at close range. Overall, it made a pretty good backup weapon.

I finally gave it up, in part because of the combat shotgun's very limited ammo supply: with just one rifle, I sometimes ran out of ammo for both of them before waves ended, which sucked. But mostly because a second rifle was just a better and more versatile choice.

So: it's not the best loadout, or even a particularly good loadout. But it is viable, if you want to try something different, and are willing to sacrifice a tactical advantage for style. You'll probably have to play one round as a Support Specialist to afford the shotgun, though.

Support doesn't get any reloading bonuses at all, but the commando gets a reload bonus for all weapons, like the sharpshooter gets a headshot bonus for all weapons.

Because of this, it's fun to take an M32 with a commando as well, quick nade reloading :D

Ah, that explains it. Thanks.

And that does sound like fun. I'll have to try that too. :)

I don't know the damage statistics off of the top of my head, but I now prefer the FAL over the SCAR as I can empty a whole clip in full auto on target with the FAL and hit most of them, which I definitely can't do with the SCAR, I HAVE to single fire the SCAR. The backup weapon depends which map I'm playing, what wave it is, and what kind of mood I'm in: The M4 is awesome for small bursts in Close - Medium range but hard to control in full auto, the AK is great for just spraying a whole clip down a hallway or single firing at Medium range, and the Bullpup is pretty much a no recoil high capacity headshot machine at close range.

Here are some of my loadouts when I go as mando.

  • M4/AK + Scar + Mp5 OR Kat
  • Scar + FnFal + Mp5 OR Kat

Good thrash loadout with plenty of ammo to spare while having the capability to heal (Mp5) or save even more ammo while kiting (kat)

  • Scar OR FnFal + M32
  • AK + M32

At least you'll be able to pitch in when FP comes knocking. You will run out of ammo if you are too trigger happy though..

Normally, I used to run AK + M4, but nowadays, I run Tommygun + Bullpup.
If my team depends on unloading on Scrakes and FP and eliminating them through DPS, I go with the classic AK + SCAR loadout.
FNFAL is good too, but that gun's no fun imho.

Then again, I generally only play Sharp since my team would prefer me to play something that can combat the bigger specimens, so I haven't experimented a whole lot with Commando.

I use Scar + Fal + Katana and Fal. Fal makes fast work of Husks and Sirens. Also good for Scrakes.

^ Pretty much this. I actually started playing more and more with this loadout and the accurate single shots conserves a great deal of ammo while taking out heads effectively (even with the FAL, which I understand the scope is a bit of a drawback to most folks.. getting used to it though.)
