I don't look at the Russians as bad guys at all, I do look at the former Soviet Union as quite the evil regime though, right up there with the Nazi regime. The USSR had an uncanny disregard for human life that I just can't get to grips with, even within their own ranks.
I also loath the zero emphasis on comaraderie within Soviet military ranks during the war, it was all about sacrefice for the motherland and less about keeping the guy next to you safe. with this type pf philosophy it's no wonder they lost so many men.
With this type of 'phylosophy' Soviet Union did not lose like France. If Germany did follow Geneva conventions they signed there would be no need for such sacrifice, but you, our wonderful civilized friends will never understand it.
And yes, definately none of germans were nazis, they were all wonderful kind people and its all a dream. Look how they treated french, oh, nobody knew about extermination camps, i have a polish maid, i feed her with leftovers, but in her barbarian Poland she would have nothing due to their racial retardness. Finally, no same values. I understand your modern hypocricy, but even there are humanitarian values that are identic for vast majority of people from China to Chile, it does not make their values similar. Not to say one, the most racially 'full' side had very sweet values, but these values got in conflict with existance of some of inferior races.
It's not about "motherland above human", it's about the bond other militaries trained their men to have with each other in battle, such as the famous "Leave no man behind".
The Soviet military didn't teach or preach these things to its' soldiers, it was all about being willing to sacrefice everything for the motherland. And I dare say this has a lot to do with the amount of losses they took; the USSR was more willing to sacrefice the lifes of its soldiers, esp. seeing as they had an almost endless supply.
Oh, its what they did in Dunkirk? Do you realize that Soviet army fought in own territory and taking all men behind means that they will take them to Vladivostok? But this pathetic **** about 'not leaving anyone behind' sounds cool for sure. Like in 'Saving Private Ryan'? Ironically there was a special occasion to save him according to the movie, but we'll believe that they would rush for any random private Joe too, especially if he is a negro.
