29th ID Community Cup: RO2 Search and Destroy

The 29th ID has run a variety of tournaments internally since it's inception. Now comes the first tournament that is solely created for the RO2/RS community. This tournament is aiming to help satisfy the lack of competition that is currently felt in the community. We are also aiming to bring some love to a often forgotten but still very fun and competitively viable gametype: Search & Destroy.

Tournament Setup:
The 29th ID Community Cup will be a single elimination tournament. The philosophy we have adopted going into this is to have small scale tournaments with multiple iterations. This allows teams to get more action and the tournaments to have different focus to spice things up.

Matches will be played 8v8 on the maps SD-Warehouse, SD-Demyansk and SD-FactoryPlateMill. Each match will be played on only one of the above three maps. It will be predetermined which map this will be depending the match in question. The final match will be a best of three over all three maps. The matches will be played in dedicated tournament servers (see below). Matches played outside of these servers will not be recognised.

Squads within the 29th as well as clans are free to sign up. Should a clan be able to field two or more teams this is allowed and encouraged. The requirements here are that each sub-team has at least 8 members, that there is no one member in several sub-teams at the same time, and that a member can not transfer from one sub-team to another.

Should a community clan team win they will receive RO2/RS private server for six month, free of charge and courtesy of the 29th ID!

Tournament Rules:
All the necessary information will be available over at our forums:
http://forums.29th.org/categories/29th-id-community-cup

Team Signup:
If you are the team leader of your team and wish to sign up for this tournament, please go over to our forums and read the dedicated thread:
http://forums.29th.org/categories/29th-id-community-cup

Once the team leaders application has been processed a thread will be created by an admin in the dedicated board of our forums that will act as the teams official roster. The teams name and contact info as well as the names and links to the steam profiles of every member of the team will be stored therein. These threads will be maintained by a tournament admin to make sure the information stays up to date. Only members (and their respective steam profile links) listed in these threads are eligible to play.

You will be allowed to make member additions to your roster after the tournament has begun. Once again there will be a dedicated forum thread made for this over at our forums:
http://forums.29th.org/categories/29th-id-community-cup

Note that the new member is not eligible to play until the teams thread has been updated!

Looking forward to seeing the community join in for some SnD action!

Good luck on your project! Too bad the minimum 8on8 may be a too high for some clans as the game mode is not widely tried and tested. Do the squad leaders have rifles or SMG/semi and do you have a public server set up with same map cycle as in this tournament? I feel that was really important in french community Rifle cup 2015 as you could practice and feel around the "mod".

Just like Suugi wrote, I also feel min 8 may leave some clans out. Some of those are good ones, making competition better.

FH is interested, but when we enter any competition, we wan't to ensure we can 100% sure play all matches. We expect the same from opponents.

Please consider allowing 7vs7, if you feel that 6vs6 does not work in S&D.

Suggi, we have two servers set up with the map rotation. Teams that sign up with get basic map change admin to those so they can use them at will.

As far as numbers go Rivimies, if many clans/units cannot do 8 vs 8 it may be changeable but for us in the 29th 8 is a very low number instead of a high number so it's somewhere in between if you understand.

That might be doable, I'll look into it. Personally I've always thought the ping from Europe to NA to be negligible, but to each their own I guess. Thanks for the suggestion.

Also to address your previous worries about not being able to get 8 players showing up, just so you know you'll still be allowed to play the match with the amount of players you could gather. So say you're having a match and you only manage to get 7 players in the server, you are not automatically forfeited but can play the match 7v8. For those who are super serious about winning this information may be trivial, but for those who are just in it to enjoy competitive RO2 and have a good time but are on the edge about joining, I feel this is relevant.

The team signup deadline of March 18th is drawing near, so I'd like to extend a reminder to everyone who has not yet signed up. So far 11 teams have signed up, of which 2 are teams from outside the 29th. I have been in contact with a number of outside teams beyond these two who seem interested in participating so I'm looking forward to seeing more signups in the coming days.

I also want to reach out to those players that enjoy SnD and wish to participate but does not have any clan/team affiliations. Do not despair, I have seen quite a few players like this in our SnD server so I know that there are enough around to fill a team. Should you feel like you fit this description, simply join our SnD servers and state to a 29th member that you wish to participate but do not have a team. We will help you find like-minded players for you to create a team with.
