They would work similar to grenades (and they would have the option to either replace nades or be stored alongside nades)

and I mean stuff like this:

not the gay kind that most games with throwing knives put in.

that's pretty much all the thought i've put into it. you could hold the key down to prep one up and it would flip open and up into your left hand and when you let go it throws it.

one problem with this is how this would be efficient or worth using at all. obviously it wouldn't do enough damage to compare with grenades or huge tier 3 guns. but cmon, KF is already centered so heavily around explosions and bullets, lets let people get some more skillful kills with smaller arms maybe? lets be inventive.

could the knife debuff a spec somehow? could something be attached to the knife?

heres my added...

deals 75 damage. crits for 300 damage. affected by berserker's damage bonus(150 and 600 at level 5/6).

random numbers to compare with.

Normal crawler: 70 health
Normal clot: 130 health
Normal siren: 300 health
Normal bloat: 525 health
Suicidal crawler: 122.5 health
Suicidal clot: 227.5 health
Suicidal siren: 525 health
Suicidal bloat: 918.75 health

Essentially, throwing it and hitting anywhere would be enough to kill the weakest of specimens(crawler), while criticals(headshots) would be enough to take out mid-game with a single blow(below bloats in terms of health).

Thoughts on the numbers?

Hmm sounds reasonable, wouldnt kill a crawler with one hit @ suicidal unless a headshot. Would be great for berserker (and ofc with berserker extra damage they would be way more effective, maybe even kill anything smaller than scrake from one hit to the head :O at lvl 6)

on normal it would kill anything at husk and below, leaving scrakes at 2 hits, fleshpounds at 3 hits, and pat at 7 hits...if they were a level 6 in a normal game that is...

So basically, it'd be serving almost the same purpose as the pistol...ugh...

Cool concept, but it just doesn't fit.

in a way you could say the machete fills the role of the knife. it doesn't need to exist, it just does.

and what beserkers need right now is RANGE. a beserker gets no damage bonus for guns so that leaves it with no ranged weaponry with which they can truly kickass.

Well, I dont care about normal cos I only play Hard/Suicidal xD

No, they need the ability to throw their melee weapons like an axe, in emergencies.

LOL, would be awesome if you could actually do that. Of course you would lose that weapon, but you could pick it up again from the body he just killed. Would give some use for those extra melee weapons (katana+axe, throw axe and fight with the katana meanwhile).

Might be a bit hard to code tho, so it doesnt look ridiculous. (imagine you throw the axe on FP which doesnt die on the impact, then the weapon just changes into a "pickup" and flies away instead of getting stuck in its flesh...)
