Did you try the workaround? place servers in your favorites and connect from there?

Also what country are you from? because it seems that so far only Dutch players are having dificulties but I am not sure why this is.

I'm in London and have the same issue.

The workaround (adding to favourites) does work for me so long as I do not refresh the server list at all.

I think it would help if everybody having an issue would post their isp, its probably some protection that blocks things at least that seems the most logical now, finding out why its getting blocked or whatever and what exactly gets blocked is easiest found out by contacting the isp :X.

I don't think the ISP is the cause, apparently something was changed after the patch otherwise this problem would be occuring before te patch as well.

I can not imagine that a whole lot of ISP's change their setting at the same time tripwire patches RO

I'm on XS4all in the Netherlands so is Monk, but he uses the KPN network and I don't, beast is on planet , also KPN but babbel is in London so that can't be the cause.

What i'm saying is not that an ISP changed its setting, its that ro changed the master server and reporting method. Meaning different ports, and route paths for your internet provider, and a different way of sending data.

Now i might be totally wrong but 3 guys with the same isps is too much of a coincidence for me, especially since monk tried a cable connection too and it worked ok with that. Then when connecting through favorites works.
That implies to like it does with you that there is an issue with the master server, and from what i see most likely by the isp or possibly the modem since people at the same isp usually have the same modem etc.

There are 5 people with this issue on these forums now, meaning in total there are probably like 25 total players with an issue like this. This is an incredible small amount. So it must be caused by something a few people have in common, and so far most likely its the ISP or hardware supplied by the isp. Which is why i made that info thread to get information on what things people have in common.

I'm not saying there is no bug, but the bug only seems to happen when there is something going on with the master server connection. And at least contacting them about this issue and stating in the other thread all programs/hardware that is network related will give a better insight on the issue.

To fix an issue the source must be found, everything is always triggered by something and can be explained in the computer world.

I can play at home without problems (I'm with Orange for my sins) but in work I'm continually having connection problems. We're with Bulldog. As a mere member of staff I cannot contact Bulldog and my management aren't interested as its not work related.

I've tried reinstalling, deleting the blob file to no avail. Playing via favourites doesn't work. RO is now unplayable.

List of the problems in case they differ:

Master Server slow refresh.
Player numbers incorrect, often higher than the max player count.
Sometimes it doesn't get past the deployment screen,
First Team selection screen shows no players connected,
Role Selection shows no players connected and no list of roles/weapons,
if I try to choose one of the invisible weapons it tells me there are too many player already in that role.
If somehow the above doesn't happen and I manage to see players, choose a team and role, then within about 15 seconds I appear to be dissconnected as VOIP stops and players continue moving in straight lines. Zombies.
I disconnect, exit RO and play something else.

you can bypass the master server by adding loads of servers to your favourites. Thats what they have been doing for a while, joining games should be independent of the master server but thats up to twi to fix.

I see your point about the ISP's

I don't think it's the setting of the ISP since there are too many diffrences, but maybe the hardware could cause this.

I use a Speedtouch 716w router, I know monk uses a newer one but also a speedtouch.
Don't know about the others

Switch can you maybe move all zombie related posts together in this thread so the other thread can be used for other issues, because we now have a 2 of the exact same discussion :p. Anyway check what i said in the last thread ports haven't changed, so its either routing or hardware.

ill try to contact twi in the mean time, about the issue of needing the masterserver to connect to a server itself but plz all do a pathping if you have the zombie issue.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nevermind these were old ips

open command prompt for a bit and try the following

pathping 207.135.144.10
pathping 207.135.144.11

those are the 2 new master servers which got a different location
and let it run till you get the statistics it will say how many seconds it will try to get them often it will try for a few minutes. Ill post an example for me in a bit. The most likely place if there is an issue will be the connection from your isp to a big internet backbone like the level3 network. I get 0% packetloss.

We'll investigate this and see if we can find what the issue is. It sounds very much like there is either an issue with certain ISPs or certain hardware. When you do a refresh in the server browser the game is requesting a server list from the Steam master server. This is using different ports, etc than the old RO master server. Poeple mentioning they also have this issue with TF2 also points to perhaps its a Steam master server port related issue. When you refresh the favorites list it is directly getting information from the game servers themselves.

On another note, the reason the player counts don't show up correctly right now is due to the way Steam is counting the players. It appears to count spectators as players, and also doesn't refresh when poeple leave the server very quickly. We will be working with Valve to address this issue.

Can the guys experiencing this issue try something for me? Try connecting from the out of game Steam Server browser directly a few times and see if that helps with the Zombie issue.

I have tested, have done the following,

Normally joined a koenigsplatz server, couldn`t choose a side so went out
and looked what the ip was. Went under Lan, filled in the ip address and
bingo. I could play.

What he wants to know if you're outside of red orchestra go and open steam and go to the server browser in steam not the one in red orchestra. Then find a server and join it through there if it works then. Helps Xienen localizing the issue.

the euro filter doesn't work, but thats already in the bug support :p

You saw 0 players in the serverbrowser or ingame when there were people inside? Aka does the same issue occur as with the ingame browser.

Just tested a lot of options.
I used the steambrowser to join servers.
I also used the favourites browser in all mentioned games.
Almost 100% of the servers gave me connection errors soon after joining.
It's even worse: steam manages to disconnect my entire internet connection

The following games had this:
1) Red Orchestra
2) Counter Strike Source
3) Day of Defeat Source
4) Team Fortress 2

So it looks like it's a steam bug, a huge one too.
Red Orchestra is the only game which works for me right now with the workaround.

It just puzzles me why my other provider gives me no errors at all.

Greetingz, Monk.

I just tried connecting from the steam server browser

first: it gives me totally wrong info on playernumbers
when I look at TWB 50 playerservers it says there are 30 people playing while both are full

I tried a couple of times but I can't connect at all. just get the "connecting-press F10 to cancel" screen for a long time while nothing happens.

only thing that works for me atm is the workaraound through the favorites
