Ziegelei Map Problems

Hi.

I'm a big fan of the tank map servers -- both the excellent mod AB and the stock version of RO. I play on these servers a fair bit.

A new map is being played called Ziegelei. It seems to be becoming pretty popular. However, I can't seem to join when this map is in play. I always get booted from the server with a critical error message. See attached. I have sent it in a bug report on several occasions. I wondering if anyone has any ideas why I can't seem to play on this map? You reckon its a Vista issue?

Beside that make sure you use the latest directx version and drivers too.
Make sure that filecache is enabled and set to automatic.

All drivers are current as is direct-x. New computer that is supposed to be optimized for gaming. I have 3-gig of ram. Haven't had issues with any other map. I guess that would put me in the 256 cache size realm. If I change the cache size to 256, does it effect anything else in game play or the look of the game?

Since I did the following changes to my RedOrchestra.ini I don't have problems any more. I have 2GB of RAM, and first I set CacheSizeMegs to 256 but that caused crashes.

Just a follow-up. I did all of the *.ini changes and was actaully able to join online games using the Ziegelei Map. However, game play was very jerky -- like I was seeing only every second or third frame of a movie. I reset the graphics setting down to "medium" and the game now runs smoothly. I tried the "high" graphics setting (There is also a "highest" graphics setting which I normally run for most RO maps). However both the "high" and "highest" graphics settings result in the jerky game performance.

Now that I can play Ziegelei, I'd just like to add that this is a very well done map!!! My complements to the Chef.

I think I'd be inclined to add a few more T34/85s to the Russian initial spawn area for balance. Either that or cut back on the Germans Panthers and Tigers in the initial spawn. Yes I know that the advanced spawns give more T34/85s. But the balance doesnt feel right for the initial spawn area tank avaliability.

The Ziegelei Map vehicle availability sort of feels like the map author\Chef is doing a bit of revenge for the Debrecen Map...i.e. Debrecen has too many IS-2s for proper play balance. Just my hummble opinion after having played both the Russian and German sides a considerable amount for both maps.

After all I've seen the AlteZiegelei map is balanced very well by its current state. I cannot see a trend to any side after playing the map some hundred times now. 90% of all matches going over full distance of 99 minutes.

Playing the AlteZiegelei map depends on your PC's hardware but I can tell you that decreasing the AF value down to zero will give you a good performance boost. The lighting circumstances on this map don't require AF at all to look well because we don't have high light contrasts there. So push all your settings ti highest/max but leave AF at 0 and AA to 2 or 4.

Bugfixing to get a final version some day. And, of course, a new vehicle for the AlteZiegelei.

Maybe you can talk to guppy about some optimizing magic, not necessarily for people that run the map crappily but to get rid of the main issues of some people crashing occasionally.

Its a nice map and i and others like it of my clan but we cant play it together since some guys simply crash out with tanking high fps is not that important but createtexturefailed issues etc are bothersome.
