Here are few european dramas where WWII is mostly on the background, but you there's still great feeling of these times. Not recomended to average popcorn eater.

Hi, since i got into playing RO:OST i have been wanting to watch ww2 movies even more, so what are your favourites and what would you recommend for me to look up if i have missed any good ones :)

I have seen..

Flags of our Fathers
Inglorious Basterds
Letters from Iwo Jima
Schindler's List
and ofc Saving Private Ryan

So discuss your favourites and stuff.

You should check out my thread here:

The thread contains WWII movies, propaganda films, and newsreels.

My favorite WWII movie is 'A Bridge Too Far', based on the book by Irish author Cornelius Ryan.

I also enjoy some of the older films from the WWII era, like Gung Ho! and 'Immortal Battalion', but they obviously can't compare in production values with the more contemporary films that have been produced.

Movies of events that happened during WW2 (not military movies):
Ip Man (The life of Yip Man, mentor to Bruce Lee, during 2nd Sino-Japanese War)
The Counterfeiters (Jewish specialist taken from concentration camps are forced to counterfeit the British Pound and American Dollar)
The Pianist (Story of a Jewish Pianist avoiding capture from Germans)
Max Manus (Story of Norwegian saboteurs in German occupied Norway)

I don't really have a favorite WW2 military movie. The only military movies I've liked were Brotherhood of War (Korean War) and Hurt Locker (Iraqi War).`

Not exactly my most favourate movie but you cannot call yourself a man until you've seen "Come and See" - Idi i smotri in Russian.

Strangely, I found the most disturbing part to be when they're swimming/crawling through the neck-deep mud and he kind of loses his mind while they almost drown. The subtle development of the audio is perfect.

The movie also had the best use of yodeling I've ever heard ;)

My favorite world war two movies are:
Hitler Youth Quex
Triumph of the Will
Festive Nuremberg
Victorty of faith
Feldzug in Polen
Kampf um Norwegen – Feldzug 1940
Sieg im Westen
The Soviet Paradise
I love these films because they are very entertaining, informative and give you another perspective which you do not get from Hollywood. ;)

FFS - trolling, I assume. Maybe you can add the film clips from the liberation of Belsen as faves too, while you're at it.
