Anywho, I'm a fan of Franziskaner and the various Sam Adams seasonal brews. But I prefer Knob Creek.

Thats not beer what does Franziskaner compare to I saw that the other day I think.
Had an Abita Turbo dog the other day blah... like a dunkel with more hops.
Widmer Hefeweizen is my favorite unfiltter wheat at the moment good stuff.
Putz you should start a whisky thread to discuss in there if you are a taster. To expensive to keep trying different whiskys.
Franziskaner is a rather unfruity-yet-very-tasty wheat beer. I also like Widmer Hefe as well as Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat. As far as beers go, I'm a Hefeweizen fan.

So you like the unfruity one but isnt the Sunset wheat really fruityish IIRC it smells of lavender and tastes like it to. I had to send it back the other day. Their Berry Weiss from leinen is total crap.
Bavarian Weihenstephan or Erdinger. I know there are probable better out there but its one of the only few we can buy here.
MMM Scottish Heather ale gets you very pished.
There expensive so I be drinkin magners, carling, cobra and bulmers all cheap and taste bad but it gets the job done.

Dirty enough pint glass you have there? I'll assume that's at home given the bottle opener...it'd be going straight back if it was in a pub!

lol - I never used to be fussy about pint glasses, before I realised how dirty they actually are in most places. It's disgusting imo! Plus it ruins a finer brew. Clean your ****ing glasses!
ive been drinking fosters mainly for well over a year, it started off being really nice and i could drink it without feeling like crap after 4-5 like i do with other beers. But lately ive gone off it and wanting to try some new beers. Becks is nice, grolsch is too much like stella which i HATE. boddingtons is ok, carling is an ok alternative. I think the best beer ive had is millers, i was at my brothers place at uni for the weekend and thats all we had but it was really nice.
Try to steer away from the mainstream lagers. They're generally quite awful unless you're just looking to get drunk on them. And in that case you may as well just carry on drinking Fosters/Carling/Stella etc.

Words of truth. I was just going to say the same.
Those mainstream lagers are "beer" only by name. Suitable only for getting drunk, if even for that. They are just piss in the bottle, in my opinion.

I think it's because not all Guinness is brewed in Dublin, and I imagine the ingredients differ enough in the fine detail to make a difference to the taste.
It goes without saying really that Fosters is crap
However, for a cold clear summertime beer I really liked Fourx the time I stayed down under, even its a mainstream lager - the "official" beer of Queensland in fact. But its actually a good beer, imo.
And VB wasn't so bad either, well at least MB is far worse
