Winchester sights are awfull, they are placed too far forward to be really accurate, which is why someone went and invented the Tang sights in the first place, they improve marksmanship by creating more distance between front and rear sight (the more distance there is, the more extreme any little movement or misalignment will look, which means you can allign the sights with more precision).
Tang sights (and especially the Creedmoore sight) where practically the scopes of their day, often used by hunters who needed the better accuracy, they where very common on the Sharps rifles and the bigger Marlin's (thease chambered bigger calibers than Winchesters), but they where also used on Henry's and Winchesters to improve marksmanship.
So considdering that the Winchester is pretty much used as a standin for a sniper rifle in KF, it's very appropriate that it has a Tang sight installed.
