Xmas achievements question

I have 10 out of 11 achievements, including one map achievement, and I was wondering: can you receive achievements on any difficulty?

I was hoping I could do beginner mode as a medic and knife a nutcracker fleshpound to death.

I don't think solo mode works. I tried it and it didn't spawn xmas zombies.

I got my nutcracker in a solo normal game on KF-Farm-day, so anything that gives achievements gives these as well. And if normal zombies are spawning in your solo play, I suggest you verify your files, because something must be wrong.

I don't think solo mode works. I tried it and it didn't spawn xmas zombies.

Whoa, what? Something's not right there.
I did a couple of annoying ones in solo and xmas zeds worked just fine. Maybe check your mutators and remove them all?

If it didn't work in solo mode it's because you have sandbox enabled - the default sandbox settings use the regular specimens.

I know you get to keep the santa skin, but I'm wondering if the xmas achievements, with their reference to the xmas creatures and maps, will simply disappear when the season's over, or will they remain as an permanent indication of the ones you achieved over the holidays?
I suspect the former.

go commando (or get one to help you) so you can tell when he's about to drop, then get in there with your knife and finish the job.
i know it's not the issue but that's how my lot sorted it, on normal or hard i think.

I did it like a man, went level 6 medic and killed the fleshpound only with knife

Solo is pretty much the only way to get a couple of them without luck (especially Knifing-down an FP).
