I think you should play more next Christmas.
Thankyou for at least replying to my post, however there is no need for you and others to be sarcastic.
he does have a point Yosh......a new member to the community inquires about the reasons as to why it was made impossible for post-Christmas players to earn all the achievements and he's met by sarcasm from the community manager? just saying, i would expect that kind of response from elitist senior forumites, but not a representative of TWI.
at the least you could have provided some sort of legitimate explanation letting him know the rationality behind that decision to only allow certain achievements to be active during the special occasion.....
@Sammyfoxy: basically what TW said in the past in regards to this issue is that the achievements were part of the special Christmas event. they claimed that it would have made the event "less special" if people could have gotten Christmas achievements after the event was over. despite a significant amount of people presenting valid rebuttals as to why that opinion lacked any logical reasoning behind it, that was the stance they took and refused to rethink how they should properly deal with the concern.
from what i understand in the technical aspects, all the Christmas themed stuff just basically overwrote the stock content and when the event ended, the original files were essentially replaced. so once the event ended the game reverted back to the stock content/zeds, thus those specific achievements would no longer be able to trigger.
propositions had been made that the Christmas map, EvilSanta's Lair, could still have the Christmas zeds on that map only, thus allowing players to still get those achievements tied into the Christmas content. the only real impossibility would have been for unlocking the special Christmas Bad Santa character......ideally, that shouldn't have been made an achievement, but just an unlockable character, thus allowing all players the ability to still earn every achievement the game had to offer.
in the end, imo it's unfortunate that they missed the boat in dealing with this situation correctly.....all i can say is that many of us tried to show them that there was a better solution but we were essentially just ignored. hopefully the Christmas event will run again next year and players like yourself will still actually be playing the game a year from now so that you have a chance to earn the achievements.
