XBox question on upcoming balance patch

To those in the beta for the upcoming balance patch I have questions on the XBow.

This is almost a "fill in the table" kind of question with three variables: Scrake vs FP, SS vs non-SS, Hard vs Suicide. Here it is broken down..


Fleshpounds..
When used by a lvl 6 sharpshooter how many XBow headshots does it take to drop a FP on 6 man suicide?

When used by a lvl 6 sharpshooter how many XBow headshots does it take to drop a FP on 6 man hard?

When used by a non sharpshooter how many XBow headshots does it take to drop a FP on 6 man suicide?

When used by a non sharpshooter how many XBow headshots does it take to drop a FP on 6 man hard?



Scrakes..

What I'm hoping to hear: XBow is still a 1 shot weapon for SS across the board but may be less effective for other classes.

There isn't alot of point saying it yet... its not been confirmed, but whatever...

Safe to say the number of headshots it takes a non Sharpshooter to kill a Scrake or FP is going to remain FAR too many. Stick to Husks and Sirens.
Scrake is currently a 2 shot and FP is currently a 3 shot for 6 man Suicidal but the FP might increase back to 4 again. Dunno about Scrake. Pretty sure its 2 for Hard too.

Are you still talking about non-SS or are you talking SS at this point?

Hrm. I'll have to see how that works out. Not being able to pop either of
the two would remove a distinctly fun part of playing SS.

I couldn't care less if they nerf the Xbow for nonSS. Good move I
think. Some perks will have to rethink their secondary roles. Still fun to be
had.

To start off it's XBOW , forget the ****ing X at the end ( You cursed us all Microsoft)

As for the upcoming patch , they say the xbow will be useless as non sharp.
Looking on the positive side , Zerker is gonna get a Damage Reduction and Speed buff ; when i play as Zerker ( Lvl 6) Armor is damn useless , it vanishes in a sec , this patch will make Zerker even more usefull , they were talking about 40% down to 50% Damage Reduction , and 25% Speed ( Actual medic one )

I'm cool with them nerfing the xbow for non SS. People oneshotting scrakes on suicide just isn't balanced.

I'm also reeeeallly looking forward to the overall increased difficulty. Veterans need more challenge and the beginner servers are gathering dust.

I'm hoping they done completely nerf the Xbow for the SS though. It's just damn fun to pop the head of an FP that has gotten so close to your front line they can feel him breathing. I hope they don't ruin that experience.

That experience should never of existed... 1 shot FPs ruined the difficulty of the entire game more than teams of M14 sharpshooters ever could.

It's only easy with a good team. I just spent all night last night shooting at already raged fleshpounds running out of a cloud of smoke and fire. Pulling off a headshot @90 degrees deflection with a running target ain't easy by any stretch.

But I'd be happy with just the 1-shot experience on a scrake as long as I get it somewhere. It's satisfying.

Really I'd like to see a 2-shot on the FP. I've got some regulars that I play with and I'm sure we could coordinate two shots simultaneously or back to back during the rage animation...I'd find that both challenging and very very fun. Anything beyond 2 and I think they would be sucking out the fun just for the sake of difficulty. I mean it's all good for a single FP but when you get three of them at once it would border on unfair for the player.

1 shotting an FP isn't only doable on a good team, its not even hard on a below average team. Hell i'd go as far as to say if you were focused on it its not even hard on a **** team. It takes a seriously useless team to rage an FP before the SS can headshot it.

And for the record, 2 shot FP is trivial. FPs don't move during rage animation and you reload before its finished. Hipshot fire the second shot at the same spot and its dead. If its a 4 shot then you're relying on team coordination to get 2 SSs to hit it together twice in a row, which while still relatively trivial compared to trying to 4 shot it alone, it at least requires teamwork.

Yes, yes it does. I'm going to say that's fairly common too....even more reason why I'm looking forward to a bump in difficulty. It used to be you might not find a winning team on suicide but now you're lucky to not get half assclowns. I'm still all stressed from my games last night..the FPs were raged before I could even see them (and please by all means blind me at the same time you rage the FP...f'n guys)

Pretty sure the hitbox moves back along with his head. If he's facing straight at you and you get the first shot low on his chin it would work. Not sure, I never really shoot at FPs when I'm using Xbow as a non-SS...unless they are already raged or doing the animation.

let's not forget there are other op classes other than the sharpshooter :) ..

The hunting shotgun alt fire .. is capable of 2 shotting an FP at point blank..

I did it on Easy Poundamonium to cheapen my Pound This! achievement. 1 round spent blasting them to pieces with the HS, a few rounds spent mowing them down with the AA12, profit.

Was so pointless :p

And yet so fun:D

By the way, another major difference between a HS and Xbow is that while the Xbow could take it down before it got to you, the HS is only useful once it has already gotten to you. That, and the damage is waaay less than the bow.
