Hello everyone! Today I want to cover some things you may have missed from last weekends PC Gamer Weekender event as well as provide some more concrete details about the next content update. And just incase you missed yesterday's news, we have rolled out the Modding Workshop! This means that clients and servers can now subscribe to their favorite maps and mods and have them automatically update.

At the Weekender John announced during a livestream all four weapons coming for the Sharpshooter perk.

The next content update that is currently being locked down will include the LAR and Crossbow as off perk weapons while we continue to work on the full sharpshooter perk. We expect the full perk to follow the next content update.

A new gamemode was also announced - VS Survival. In this mode 6 players take the fight to the humans (for an up to 6v6 matchup) and play as 11 fully controllable zeds with attacks and special powers and abilities. This culminates (if the human team survives to the boss fight) with one of the zed players taking control of the Patriarch!

We are very excited to get the first version of this mode in the hands of players and are looking forward towards your feedback!

With one of our more recent Quality of Life updates we changed Hans damage numbers. Today I want to show you what that looks like on our stats system for when it comes to the Hans fight:

After Graph - http://media.tripwirecdn.com/031116/bosswinloss.png

This is much more in line with how we want this battle to play out and our analytics work is paying off well in focusing in on balance work. A few changes that have made their way into our recent dev builds that player may enjoy are faster weapon switching and large zeds not going into perma rage if they are one of the last few left alive. The Game Conductor and Live Update system are also moving forward, more details on that below.

One more new item I want to touch on is the brand new 9mm sound going into the game in the next update.

As a reminder of the other items coming in this update that we have previously talked about:
  • New Map - Prison
  • Live Update - The ability for us to update balance without shipping a client or server update
  • Game Conductor - Dynamic difficulty system that will allow the game to tune the fight to the players

For those following the Grindhouse mapping contest, we are in the final phase of evaluating Phase 2 maps and will be announcing winners in the near future (several judges will be out at GDC next week and will need to get back).

WOHOO!
No perma rage and faster weapon switch!
When ETA? Can we expect it soon-ish (1-3weeks) or longer?

Looks awesome! I really like the look of the crossbow and railgun. I must say, the most promising part of this update is the new capability to balance the game without onerous client updates. I'm thrilled at the prospect of getting more frequent balance changes.

This looks awesome, cant wait to finally try out sharpshooter (missed that its only the LAR and xbow being added for now), and vs mode will be LOADS of fun with friends.

This Versus Mode is sounding really sweet, at least the Patriarch Hud that you linked was really good imo.

Nice to see LAR and X-Bow to come in game as offperk weapons for the meantime as well.

Is the Patriarch screenshot from endgame or do we control zeds from 3d person view?

Railgun looks great, love how minimalist it is without bazillion of lights.

that sounds zesty and delicious

And if it plays how it sounds, exactly what KF2 needed to really sell a new experience. I'm highly excited

Nice update.... Any idea when Linux server file builds and custom weapon mod support will come?

Not sure on the first yet, second can already be done and could have been done since day one.

Everything's looking good. Thanks for the update, Yoshi.

Looks like we may get an update sooner rather than later then, but we won't be getting the full Sharpshooter perk for a while longer. That's a shame, but at least I can test out the L.A.R.

Can you reveal what knife and grenade the Sharpshooter gets?

I'd also like to give a little feedback on the excellent crossbow model. The parts on the side where the wire feeds through (apparently called the cam) would look nice black or dark green instead of the white you have currently.

Our prayers have been answered...

That railgun, though... does that bullet just... levitate there?

I'm just wondering how much faster the weapon switching will be. Will it be up to the same speed as in KF1? Or just slightly faster? And if it's up to KF1 swap speed levels, how will you handle the perk skill, "quick draw" for the gunslinger perk? Personally, I hope that the swap speed is brought back to the same speed as in KF1 but any increase in swap speed is graciously welcomed.
