Slippery slope pls go. But seriously I doubt kf2 will die because of some purchasable weapons and if they go down some hypothetical road to killing the game, they have plenty of very loud and very dedicated fans to yell them back onto the right path.

Tribes also used to have a pretty dedicated and loyal fanbase. Used...

Just saying.

First of all, this is a nice update on the upcoming patch and would be great to see more modding support made available. However, it would also be great to see a full changelog for this update, so that we from the modding community can see what was changed.

So my current progress will carry over to the beta and then the progress that I will make in the beta will be carried to the normal version, is that so?

Love the weapon sharing bit. Very convenient and unobtrusive.
Yeah, I like it. I don't have to buy the other game and if anyone happens to own it and joins, I can use the crossover weapon and not spend a single dime for it.

People are actually complaining about that...

Ofc they do. Why someone should buy the content for you? Its like one guy paying for everyone. Thats "a bit" unfair you know.

In hell
Guys.

It's a side-grade weapon that's not even top tier.

There is no pay to win.

In the strictest sense of the word, it is pay-to-win. Imagine, somebody wanted a melee weapon but didn't have quite enough dosh for the pulverizer. They might stick with the crovel without the Zweihander. The crovel would be overall weaker, and that person might need just a little more damage in order to have defeated an enemy that instead killed him that wave due to him having a mere crovel.

I'm actually okay with it because I'd just save up for a pulverizer anyway and take my chances with a crovel as the zerk, but I'm concerned about what happens next. What if they take it a step further and make it a very unique weapon with devastating abilities, such as the dual flare-pistols in KF1? What if they take it a step even further and come up with something that makes the game even easier on higher difficulties even though it's a supposed sidegrade?

I'll be honest here: I'm paranoid and afraid. I can't help but think that if this is the first step, then worse will come. I was hoping this stuff would be left behind with KF1. The last thing I want to see is another weapon DLC that will make a perk fill a larger niche than it's supposed to. This probably isn't it, but I fear that if we support this then it will lead to it. But as I mentioned earlier, I'm probably just paranoid.

Well... later is better than never. Opting into beta is a good trade-off between unstable releases and very slow over-polished early access updates. I just hope that you'll continue this practice in the future, i.e. put new features and content into the beta as soon as they become playable, not waiting another 4 months till the next release.

Tbh I didn't expected from Tripwire to release new update, even as beta, before PAX Prime. This gives you +1 karma from me :p Consider early press release has been forgiven

I also like your new shareable DLC practice, when one player owning the content unlocks it for every player on the server. "Cosmetic-only content for owners while gameplay-affecting items for everybody on the server" is a fair trade-off between raising additional funds for the company and "pay2win" strategy. Until it is balanced, of course.

Like when you shoot off a Clot's arm there's a 1/100 chance it just drops a "severed clot arm" melee weapon that you can pick up? Ahaha, that would be pretty funny.. all jiggle-boned, like that spy's arm you could get for Scout in TF2...

I was thinking like you cut off a gorefast's arm that has the sword and use it as a weapon. But now I do kinda want a few novelty weapons from them too lol.

It doesn't seem to fit berserker role as it fits more to perk that will use katana. Should come later or be off-perk weapon
It's a huge sword. There are no martial arts involved here, it's just brutal and graceless, exactly what the berserker is. Fits perfectly imho.

Please everybody, set real life aside. This game is an arcade arena shooter. The katana is the small sword and the claymore is the big sword. It's that simple. It's video games.

I wasn't saying it wasn't that simple.

My post was kind of addressing posts like this, just in the hopes of bringing greater understanding to the community.

(No offense meant at all to you Kezraw. You can't criticize someone who isn't a carpenter for not knowing how to build a cabinet.)

No it's not. It will probably be early next week if you read original post. It will probably be selectable instead of requiring password like some other devs do (example: Unturned)

Like, no. You're seriously so goddamn wrong. A lot.
No, you're wrong, European knights were nothing more than glorified caveman wrapped in tinfoil, beating eachother up with dull swords because medieval blades were made to crush, not cut. Everybody knows that finesse and skill was only used by the noble Samurai as they wielded Katanas, the most powerful swords created by man

Ooh nearly got me there, nearly.

But it's still a fine berserker weapon. And I bet it's still 1100 dosh!

Love the Eviscerator block buff; AAR was something I always liked on L4D so, cool; Please let the zweinhander have equal stats to the crovel, please don't let it be better than the crovel/pulverizer as in P2W. Don't start with stuff like it was in KF1 :(. And I say that looking over the fact that I own Chivalry. It just won't be the last time... And I don't want to 'have' to keep buying better weapons. Please make it be cosmetic only.
I am most certain that you cannot have a Tier 3 weapon have Tier 1 stats and pricing. Remember that at least ONE person must have Chivalry so that ALL people can have access to the Zweihander. So that if you don't own the game, chances are someone else does and you can purchase it from the trader. Everybody wins. And if there is no one on the server that has Chivalry, I doubt the weapon would be such a game-changer that it would deeply impact the flow of the game with the weapons that already exist.

Dedicated Server Support

Dedicated Server Support

I run 4 dedicated KF2 servers and I'd like to make this beta available on them. Is that possible? If so, what do I need to do to update the servers once the beta has started?
