except for that TWI has a relugar work week (5 days) and that early doesn't equal mid. so it has to be today, or everyone is gonna be even more and more pissed.

edit: not gonna lie, for this update taking FOR-FRICKING-EVER and then TWI already introducing crossover (paid promotional content) is making me slightly disappointed. I just hope they'll get their sh*t together.

P.S. Good will doesn't pay, but a bad image and shoddy practices hurt you in the long run...

If a simple cross-promotion disappoints you then you obviously don't have much confidence in TW. And nothing about their business practice is "shoddy", that just comes from people who apparently misunderstood what an EA is and who'll take back all their words when the next update comes out.

I am mostly disappointed by the amount of advertising and promotional effort that is being put in during what is supposed to be an early alpha test version of a game. Seems like what was being done is refine the Red Orchestra marketing beta approach to be more suitable for bug fixing, but the pushing for publicity remained. I am not really okay with that.

I am excited for the new release, but have kept quiet, as I do not really care about the promotional stuff they do, just trying to ignore it. But when they push out testing content to non-testers (press and Youtubers), then it gets on my nerves, because that is done for marketing and sales, not for testing the product. If they write an article or release the information after the update has come out, that is different, but they released it before, so it is trying to generate hype for the "free content patch" release.

Perhaps they are polishing the content for press and youtubers. Even if it's alpha, it's damn good alpha and a joy to play. Seeing such stuff played by youtubers would make me more keen to buy KF2. Press has been impressed, too. Good rep means more people will buy it, which enables TWI to make this game even better. Everyone wins.
Only thing that makes me smirk is the 'free' content update as this Incinerate and Detonate -update has been called. It was coming for us KF2 buyers, anyway. For Free, heh.

Let's see here:
Game is still an early access title.
There are no guidelines as to what an early access title has to fulfill, yet you say that I misunderstood "what an EA" is. Nonsensical.

Game already has paid DLC in EA state (because you have to pay money if you want the Zweihander), which is commonly perceived as a SHODDY PRACTICE.
I happen to already have Chivalry since it released, yet I would still side with people who say that the Zweihander is paid DLC. People's patience is being tested with going months without any content update for the game, and then they get a promotional item in-game that is not cosmetic and that you have to own/buy another game for.
Imagine if TWI would have done an update just for the promotional item, the steam forums would be even so much more cluttered with hate-spewing threads, but TWI decided to bundle the promotional item with a big content update (good on them, at least this decision was smart and acts as a bit of damage mitigation to their reputation).

I hope I could point out the errors in your thinking. kthxbye.
inb4 "but... but other EA titles don't get update at all! you should be thankful!" good. good on those "developers" who abandon their games and lose any credibility in the gaming industry.

Well, if you look, Samurai armor usually had a number of soft spots, and the majority of infantry they dealt with wore light/soft armor made of leather or silk.

Also, since the Zweihander isn't an actual Zweihander but actually a Flamberge it'd be nice for the name to change and a real Zweihander get added in, prob as a Teir 3, and not a bonus thing, but rather, high damage, slow attack speed, but staggers/knocks down per hit, due to it's sheer weight. It'd make it viable and more versatile

Actually, didn't most Samurai prefer to use bows in combat, and when things got up-close they more often used polearms like Naginatas?

1. EA is up to them, they're doing it the same way they did KF1, but this time people are b itching about it.
2. Nice text wall but it's irrelevant because you don't have to own Chiv to use the sword, if anyone in the server has it you have it.
3. They didn't do this promotion for the typical reason of making money or they would have chosen a more popular game. They did it because Chivalry is an awesome game, many fans of both requested a cross promotion, and the two studios are fans of each other. They did this promotion mainly as a fun surprise to their fans, if that's shoddy then go cry about it to someone that cares.

Hope I could open your eyes, ya daft ****. Kthxbai.

To my eyes, Zwei aint paid DLC, i see like a... "reward" from Chivalry and not the TWI team. For whatever reason these 2 dev teams have crossover content, skins for Chivalry and since KF2 does not have any "skins" ( yet atleast ) it is normal for the Zwei to be a separate weapom, im good with that.

Restricting access to a weapon in a game that currently suffers from a severe lack of weapons isn't a decision I agree with. Wouldn't it have been better to only make the knight character 'paid'?

Indeed, i've been trying to summon the update since yesterday morning, seems like i can't get the good juju flowing around. Surely not even one of you is helping with the summoning, damnit. Everyone, to your respective summoning rooms. Now.

Is it really worthy of attention ? (not trolling here just asking a question :))

It means someone from tripwire is sitting in front of the computer and tending to KF2. Progress is being made! It's getting closer and closer. So to me, heck yeah it's wonderful news :D
